On the evening of June 10th, auditorium J3 on the Ana Rosa campus hosted a special lecture by Wang Chi Hsin, founder of Epson Brazil. The event, part of the ESEG Faculty Lecture Series, focused on the theme "Leadership and Success: Insights for Personal and Professional Development" and brought together students, professors, and guests for a frank and inspiring conversation about career, values, and taking ownership.

At 25, Wang Chi Hsin founded Epson's Brazilian subsidiary and served as its president for two decades. Recognized as one of the most influential leaders in the technology sector, he opened his lecture by recounting how he arrived in Brazil at a young age and began his studies in diverse fields such as Architecture, Law, and Business Administration. According to him, this diverse experience gave him a broad and multidisciplinary perspective that was fundamental to his successful career.

“The company is made up of people. The decisions you make can impact your entire life. That's why you need to be focused,” said Wang, also highlighting the role of social involvement in organizations: “Always remember: you have a social responsibility,” he stated.

Among the milestones achieved by Epson under his leadership, he highlighted the conquest of the 80% printer market, a result of the constant pursuit of solutions and innovation. For him, a company's growth is directly linked to ethics, commitment to employees, and respect for the environment.

Using metaphors such as a tree, a child, and a book, Wang reinforced values like responsibility, respect, learning, and purpose. “A book is more than a business card; it makes you rethink things. Children bring a different perspective on life. Regarding the tree, don't just plant one; take care of the environment you live in,” he pointed out. And about human connections, he highlighted: “Knowing people is essential; networking is important.”.

In a direct conversation with the young people present, Wang gave valuable career advice: “Respect money, be transparent and communicate, because uncertainties will always exist. Young people cannot lack depth. Be dedicated, use artificial intelligence to your advantage, build your own career and develop your resume.”.

When discussing leadership, he was emphatic: “The company adopts the profile of the leadership. A leader needs to be consistent, dedicated, and respectful of people. The entrepreneur is tireless; be prepared and know where you want to operate.”.

The lecture concluded, after a question and answer session with the students, with a simple yet powerful message. “If I can leave this message today, I’ll be happy. Make people and things better than you found them,’ Wang finished.

The ESEG Lecture Series continues next semester with a special program, always bringing relevant names from the market to enrich students' training and inspire new paths for their professional future.
