A ESEG – Etapa Group College held the second edition of on Saturday, September 14th. Experience ESEG – Law. At the time, about 40 students from the 3rd grade of High School of Etapa School They were able to participate in a day simulating typical activities of legal professionals.
Divided into groups, the students were given a case to study and develop arguments. However, at first, they didn't know whether they would be playing the role of defense or prosecution.
In addition to the students, the academic director Dimas Ferreira and professors from [unclear] participated in the activity. course Right from the ESEG and some senior university students, who helped the students – divided into teams – to understand a simulated case and to construct arguments.
The groups underwent evaluations throughout the day and were judged by the panel (acting as judges) on various points of their arguments. The group with the most points was recognized with a gold medal, and in addition, all members received a full scholarship for undergraduate studies at ESEG as a prize.
The series of events Experience ESEG This program allows 3rd-year high school students to experience a day of activities in the field they are considering pursuing. One of the aims is to help students discover if that path truly makes sense for them and also to provide a clearer understanding of the profession for those who are still undecided.
For this activity, the students gathered on a Saturday at the ESEG facilities on the Paraíso campus. Equipped with a previously studied case study, they were divided into groups of about five students; each group received guidance and tips from students and professors of the course. The fictional case was about Maria Clara, The case involved a 12-year-old girl who created videos for the internet. The discussion during the mock trial centered on whether the girl's parents were harming her childhood by making her work, or if it was her own choice and done for her own benefit.
The students had to work hard to organize arguments defending both sides, since, initially, they didn't know which side they would represent (defense or prosecution). In addition to the case, they needed to research legislation, articles, precedents, and prepare speeches presenting and explaining each point of view.
In the second stage, the students were informed about which side they would need to present their arguments on (defense or prosecution) and the roles they would play (lawyers, prosecutors, and the girl's parents).
O Professor Danilo Bueno, Professor [Name], from the Bachelor of Law program at ESEG, was impressed by the students' engagement: “It was very productive for the students because it generated a great deal of research on the topics of cyberbullying and child labor in general. I noticed the students were very engaged and genuinely interested in the topics. It was a very positive action for everyone, as well as very interesting and rewarding for the professors involved in the event.”.
After the presentation to the panel, the six groups received performance scores, being evaluated by university professors in eight categories:
For each category, students could accumulate a maximum of 10 points (except for the first two, which were worth 15 points each). The sum of the points classified the groups as Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
The students also had the opportunity to receive personalized feedback from university professors, who pointed out areas for improvement, where the presentation could fall short, and how to work towards achieving the desired results.
All participants in the event received a certificate of participation. Experience ESEG – Law. The top three groups with the most points received prizes from... ESEG – Etapa Group College Gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with certificates of their placements.
Furthermore, the members of the first-place group also received a full scholarship as a prize, valid for any undergraduate course at ESEG with enrollment in 2025.

The students were extremely happy with the result. "We gained many valuable skills during this process, not only through teamwork, but also through building arguments and learning more about the rights we have under the Brazilian Constitution," they stated. Luiza Guimarães Bonacio.
The students believe the activity was incredible and very constructive: "we had to work on several skills, from teamwork to developing our own argumentation abilities and overcoming our own fears when arguing.".
Initiatives like this are part of the purpose of ESEG for the training of highly qualified professionals for the job market.
