Students from ESEG visit the Federal Revenue Customs office at Guarulhos International Airport.

Students from ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, carried out a technical visit to the Federal Revenue Customs at Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo, this Tuesday (26).

The activity provided a practical immersion in the workings of customs inspection, allowing students to get a close look at strategic sectors related to the control of import and export of goods in the country.

Practical experience in a restricted area of the airport.

During the visit, the students were able to access restricted areas of the airport and observe the work carried out by Customs in relation to the inspection of people, cargo, and goods transported by air.

The experience also presented procedures for combating different types of trafficking and crimes related to international transport.

According to the coordinator of Law course at ESEG Faculty, According to Fernando Couto, the activity aimed to bring students closer to the reality of legal and fiscal work in the airport environment.

“The visit allowed the students to learn about the inner workings of the Guarulhos Airport Customs, where all import and export inspections of goods by air are carried out. We also sought to raise their awareness of the importance of this sector and the impacts of inspections on society,” he highlighted.

Legal topics as seen in practice.

Among the topics observed in practice, the students were exposed to the workings of risk intelligence, the sector responsible for the preventive selection of cases with a higher probability of irregularities, making oversight more efficient and strategic.

Fernando Couto also highlighted the visit's connection to important legal topics: "The students were able to learn about the destination of seized or confiscated goods, such as auction, donation, incorporation, and destruction of merchandise.".

Another moment that caught the participants' attention was the demonstration performed by the K9 agents, who specialize in drug detection with the help of sniffer dogs.

An enriching experience for the students.

For the students, the experience helped broaden their perspective on career possibilities and bridge the gap between academic content and real-world market practice.

Student Patrícia Bonfim, from the 7th semester of Economics, highlighted the importance of the activity:

“"The visit offered by ESEG was a very special and enriching experience. Being able to see firsthand how all the work of customs inspection and processes functions made the theory much more meaningful in practice."”

Bruno Pontes Gomes, an Economics student, also highlighted the impact of the experience on his professional career:

“As someone who dreams of working for the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, I already knew I would love every second of the visit. But it was even better than I expected. The experience has made me even more motivated to study for the competitive exam and be able to return there, this time as a civil servant.”

Bruno also highlighted the importance of the activity in bringing students closer to the work of the Federal Revenue Service and customs careers.

The visit reinforces the proposal of ESEG College to provide students with practical experiences in real professional environments, connecting academic learning to market dynamics and the challenges of contemporary legal practice.
