The first day of college is always a milestone in any student's life. It's the beginning of a... A new stage full of expectations, challenges and dreams.. For many, arriving on campus is accompanied by a mixture of anxiety, curiosity, and even insecurity about the future.
In this scenario, being welcomed warmly right from the start is crucial for the... The student feels part of a community, with support and guidance. to face this new phase. And so went the first day for the freshmen at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, on February 17, 2025.
Early in the morning, students were welcomed at the Paraíso Campus with a welcome kit, a lecture, a chat about the institution's areas and sectors, and were officially introduced to the course coordinators.
The activities continued into the evening, where a Grand Opening Lecture served as a meeting point for all the students.
Fernando Honorato, chief economist and director of the Research and Economic Studies Department at Bradesco., He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to give his lecture at ESEG College and showed enthusiasm for the new generation of professionals to come: “I am very grateful for this invitation to be here. This is a chance to share a little of my experience, of my life story,” the economist exclaimed.
In his presentation, Honorato highlighted the Scenarios for the Brazilian economy and the impacts on the labor market., In addition to providing an opportunity for discussion with all attendees, clarifying any questions that arose throughout the event.
The welcoming ceremony marked a new stage in the academic lives of the freshmen, who now begin their journey with all the support and encouragement of a college that is a benchmark in Technology and Business, in addition to providing students with individualized support focused on the development of each one.
In addition to its reputation in technology and business, ESEG College also prides itself on its close relationship with students, putting into practice one of its pillars: individualized support. This support is a fundamental part of one of the most important processes in a student's life, not only in the academic aspect but also in their personal development. Therefore, the first day of class was marked by various activities, meetings, and conversations.
Among the activities offered to freshmen was a presentation of the Student Support area, which includes the Career Development Center, ESEG International, and the Student Relations Center. The area manager, Vanessa Martins, emphasized that the institution provides all the necessary tools for students to prepare for the job market and achieve their goals upon entering undergraduate studies.
Vanessa also highlighted the importance of getting to know the students, their dreams, skills, and professional aspirations, in order to... to ensure that they can succeed both academically and professionally.. "Our mission is to make students feel welcome from day one and to ensure they know where to find the resources to solve any problem, as well as to make the most of how they can develop their skills during their undergraduate studies," he emphasized.
Internationalization was another point addressed by the manager, highlighting the Opportunities to connect with companies and projects abroad.. "We already have several international projects and partnerships so that students can participate and be prepared when an opportunity arises. Teaching English in the curriculum is just one of them," he highlighted.
Vanessa also mentioned the Performance of the Student Relationship Center (CRA), which provides support in various areas, such as questions about the academic calendar, access to learning platforms, financial matters, issuing student ID cards, complaints, and suggestions, always with the aim of strengthening the relationship between the institution and the students.
Simone Bortoletto, coordinator of Career Development Center, highlighted the The importance of helping students explore their best abilities.. She spoke about the support offered for job interviews, career transitions, time management, study techniques, and career guidance. In addition to supporting students throughout their academic journey at the university, the department also follows graduates throughout their careers, offering ongoing support for professional success.
Even before classes begin, some freshmen have already demonstrated that they made the right choice with ESEG College. After all, graduation begins with the decision of the course, and having the security of an institution that will prepare the student for the job market makes this choice safer and more assertive.
Tainá Cristina Barboza Bueno, a first-year law student., Tainá felt very comfortable choosing ESEG. “From the beginning, from the first contact, I felt welcomed at the Faculty and that made all the difference in my choice. At that moment, I understood that I wanted to be here at ESEG,” says Tainá. Now, the law student intends to pursue a career in criminal law and is eager for the start of the course.
In a career transition, the physiotherapist Gabriela Ribeiro da Silva, freshman in Computer Engineering, She learned about ESEG through a colleague's recommendation. "Since I already knew a student, I looked into the college more, and the service surprised me. Furthermore, seeing a curriculum aligned with my expectations, and with the technological advancements we're experiencing today, I hope to succeed in this new phase," said the freshman.
The now-graduating students also had the opportunity to Learn about and clarify important points regarding the offered degrees with the course coordinators.José Guilherme Campos, coordinator of Administration and Economics; Fernando Kakugawa, coordinator of Computer Engineering and Production Engineering; and Fernando do Couto Henriques Jr., coordinator of Law.
The morning students also had access to a Special lecture on the economic outlook in Brazil and the world, given by Professor Robson Ferreira.. The focus of his presentation was on the global scenario, addressing crucial issues such as economic growth, trade between countries, and the impacts of this dynamic on various professional fields.
The professor explained how these factors affect the labor market, workforce qualification, and opportunities in a globalized economy. It was also discussed how investments by large foreign companies in Brazil contribute to a booming labor market, generating new job opportunities.
Furthermore, Ferreira reinforced the importance of the discipline of Economics not only for business courses, but also for any field of work: “Economics is very important for all courses, after all, it is part of our lives. A particularity of economics is that, from childhood, we deal with it, whether to go to the market or even to buy and exchange stickers in an album – everyone needs this training, at least initially, to have a broad vision of business and decision-making.”.
In addition to various welcoming and integration activities for freshmen, ESEG College organized a special Opening Lecture in the evening, which brought all students together to start the semester with a wealth of relevant content for their education.

Among the topics discussed, Fernando mentioned how the candidacy of Donald Trump, president of the United States of America, directly and indirectly affects the Brazilian economy and how his actions can hinder other countries in this increasingly globalized world.
Another topic widely discussed was the future of the economy in our country and how economists are trying to predict the future situation of our nation, with ever-increasing interest rates worldwide and Brazil's national debt. The discussion also touched upon clean energy, showing how developed countries struggle to generate it, while in Brazil this practice already exists with positive results.
Using graphs, numbers, and data, the economist states that, despite everything, Brazil is not poorly positioned for a potential global trade war, considering its trade balance and how exports help our country during times of crisis.
With his experience, Honorato highlighted some points for the future, such as... use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain practices, which could bring about a revolution in the economy. Despite the unfavorable scenario, it is still possible to view the future positively, since Brazil can still sustain itself without the influence of the US and with the support of other countries, such as China.
After his presentation, Honorato participated in a Q&A session with the teachers and students present, clarifying various doubts regarding economics, the job market, and career paths.
At the end of the event, the Economics student, Vitor Neri Miranda, He was invited to the stage to present a gift to the chief economist of Bradesco on behalf of all the students of ESEG College.
