On September 16th, as part of the 2026 Career Fair, ESEG College held two lectures aimed at its students at the Paraíso and Ana Rosa campuses.

In the morning, Carlos Henrique Oliveira de Assis Junior, Technical Program Manager at Google and graduate of Production Engineering course, graced the event with a talk about professional choices, career paths, and building a professional identity.

During the meeting, held in the Main Hall on the Paraíso campus, Carlos shared experiences from his academic and professional career, highlighting lessons that contributed to his training and that continue to be present in his work routine.

Born into a humble family and a student at public schools, Carlos recounted that, at age 11, he began to take an interest in learning languages. Exposure to new languages also sparked his interest in meeting new people and broadening his horizons. Currently, English and Spanish are part of his professional routine.

When recalling the time he studied at ESEG, The graduate spoke about the challenges faced at the beginning of his undergraduate studies and the importance of encouragement from professors in helping students develop autonomy in their studies. According to Carlos, the guidance to arrive at classes better prepared allowed him to better understand the content and develop a new way of learning.

“"It's not so much the subject matter, but the way I understood how to solve problems in a more comprehensive way," said Carlos, explaining how the lessons learned during his undergraduate studies continue to contribute to his professional performance.

The graduate also shared the difficulties faced at the beginning of his career. balancing work and studies, A reality that, according to him, is still part of the routine for many students. During this period, he also highlighted the support he received from ESEG College to face the challenges and continue his education.

After professional experiences in different companies, Carlos joined Mercado Livre, where he worked in logistics. This experience helped him advance professionally and brought him even closer to an area that had already sparked his interest since his undergraduate studies: the world of data.

Career path and skills

Throughout the conversation, Carlos also discussed his career path at companies such as Google, Shopee, Mercado Libre, VF Corporation and LG Electronics, highlighting strategic projects and experiences that contributed to their professional development.

Currently at Google, Carlos emphasizes that professional performance requires more than just technical expertise. For him, it's important to know how to analyze different situations, find ways to solve problems, and find a balance. hard skills and soft skills, developing both technical knowledge and soft skills.

At the end of the meeting, students were able to ask questions and talk directly with the alumnus about different moments in his career. In the evening, the Career Fair program continued with the lecture. “"Tech Generation Bug"”, conducted by Fabio Paulo de Sousa, Head of HR and Human Resources executive at a large multinational bank, with over 25 years of experience in the field, especially in compensation and benefits.

Based on his professional experience, Fábio offered students a reflection on some of the challenges encountered throughout their careers and on skills that can make a difference in professional development. Among the points addressed, he highlighted the importance of aspects such as responsibility, collaboration, humility to learn, the ability to work in a team, listening skills, and discipline.

According to the speaker, professional development is not only related to technical skills. Fábio argues that it's also necessary to develop behaviors that contribute to building trusting relationships and a positive work environment. good professional reputation.

During the lecture, Fábio also shared reflections on career growth processes and on the way... How companies view different aspects of professionals.. After the lecture, the student Guilherme Nardim, of Economics course at ESEG College, moderated the question and answer session with Fábio, allowing students to delve deeper into issues related to their careers and the challenges faced by those entering or advancing in the professional market.
