O ESEG Tech & Business This semester, it will add a new activity to its program. Embedded Systems and IoT Workshop, The project, led by Professor Filippo Valiante, is now part of the program, expanding opportunities for engineering students to engage with practical projects and challenges similar to those found in the market.

Aimed at engineering students from the second semester onwards, the workshop offers an experience that goes beyond the content regularly covered in the classroom.

Participants will be involved in different stages of embedded systems and Internet of Things (IoT) solution development, from circuit and printed circuit board (PCB) design to aspects related to firmware, security, usability, power, back-end, front-end, documentation, and project management.

The proposal also includes the development of solutions with direct application within the institution itself. In this way, students will be able to put their knowledge into practice while contributing to the improvement of the laboratories and facilities used by the Engineering courses.

Among the projects that could be developed is one climate and environmental monitoring station, This system could track data such as temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure, and pollutant concentrations. The information could be made available via the web or specific applications, with the possibility of integration into the university's website or display on equipment installed on the institution's premises.

Another possibility is Development of a milling cutter for printed circuit boards., which could expand the resources available in the laboratories and support activities related to electricity, electronics and IoT.

Ideas such as a Mini production line for industrial automation simulations., Control and management systems for laboratory equipment and components, and automation solutions for classrooms.

The workshop will primarily utilize equipment, computers, and software already available in the institution's laboratories, including the Xi room, the LITE, and the Robotics Laboratory. Depending on the needs of each project, electronic components, circuit boards, materials for 3D printing and laser cutting, as well as local or cloud server resources may be used.

Engineering learning with practical application.

By participating in the workshop, students will have the opportunity to develop advanced skills in embedded systems and IoT in an environment inspired by the dynamics of professional projects. The experience also allows the knowledge acquired throughout their undergraduate studies to be applied in the creation of concrete solutions.

More than just developing products, the proposal aims to bring students closer to the different stages that are part of a technological project, encouraging an integrated view of development, documentation, security, maintenance, scalability, and management.

By offering the possibility of creating solutions for their own institution and also meeting the demands of partners and professors from other courses, the workshop provides an opportunity for students to participate in projects with different applications and contribute effectively to the academic environment.

Registration for the Embedded Systems and IoT Workshop is open until August 28th.

This activity is part of ESEG Tech & Business, a program that brings together different initiatives aimed at the development of students and the connection between academic training, technology, and the market.
