Guilherme Nunes Ferreira, fourth semester student of Right from the ESEG – Etapa Group College, has an active academic participation. Among the various activities in which he has been involved at the Faculty, the student considers the Global Business Experience 2024 as a high point. In this program, the ESEG It hosted foreign students from five countries for the development of an exchange program rich in professional experiences and human relationships.
His interest in internationalization arose even before the start of his undergraduate studies. Therefore, he makes a point of taking advantage of and actively participating in the activities proposed by [the organization/organization]. ESEG International. At the time of Global Business, went through a selection process promoted by the teacher Vanessa Martins, responsible for the internationalization sector of ESEG, and he was happy to be approved.
To William, The program had several positive aspects: international networking, strengthening of resumes, new friendships, language and cultural challenges, and learning in areas that are not necessarily his specialties.
“"As a study" Right, "I didn't have such in-depth knowledge about business. So, I took advantage of the online and in-person meetings held during the program to study more about this area and know what I was talking about," explained the student, who reinforced: "Even being from..." Right, "This is an area I really enjoy, especially the entrepreneurial aspect. Therefore, the experience was very enriching."”
In the activity, students from Brazil, Belgium, China, United States e Netherlands They came together to help a real company solve a problem affecting it. The program began online so that students could meet, talk, and get to know each other. The final phase took place in person at [location]. ESEG. The students were able to meet in person and visit the participating companies to understand their businesses and, at the end of the program, present proposed solutions to the problems presented.
“It was nice to meet them online, but it was much better and different to meet them in person. They also enjoyed the experience and it was very enriching,” Guilherme highlighted.
The group's challenge William it was next to IEST Group, A consulting firm that helps companies, mainly Chinese, integrate and thrive in Brazil. The problem to be solved was the following: "Kwai, a video app, has a type of live streaming that performs very well in China, but not in Brazil. What solution could the students suggest for more effective content for the Brazilian consumer?".
William She says that during the experience she was able to put her English to work: “I know how to speak English, but I end up not practicing because I don’t have anyone to talk to. So, it was really cool to meet them and have that exchange. I remember that, that week […]period in which the activity took place"I slept about 4 hours a day. Not because we worked so much, but also because we wanted to go out and have fun." The project enabled not only a rich exchange of theoretical and professional knowledge, but also a rich cultural experience.
It's common for companies to seek employees with international experience. Internationalization is a great exercise for learning about different cultures, acceptance, resilience, and improving teamwork. Dealing with people with different habits than your own can provide a unique perspective on interpersonal dynamics.
It is especially important, during undergraduate studies, to introduce students to opportunities that allow them to internationalize and strengthen their socio-emotional skills through these experiences. After all, college is a time of learning and training for the job market – two factors that are very present in multinational environments.
The experience and comments of William They reflect this perception: “The company we work for is a group fundamentally composed of Chinese people. They talked a lot about business between Brazilians and Chinese, between people from other countries, in short, about how you do business. In a group like that (made up of students from different parts of the world), nobody has the same opinions all the time. So, getting to know other people's cultures and knowing how to deal with them was enriching, as was dealing with people from outside. In that sense, it also opens your mind, because it brings experiences and opinions from other places.”.
William He has had other international experiences, such as an English course in Montreal, Canada. For him, the desire to travel and learn more only grows. Therefore, he is interested in the exchange program conditions at [company name]. ESEG International, which offers the possibility of studying abroad for a semester, paying the tuition fees of ESEG here in Brazil.
Just like the William, the other students of ESEG They also possess this rich international experience through various activities developed throughout the year without leaving Brazil, through specific programs and international lectures.
