Preparing students for the competitive job market is the greatest commitment of ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group. The career path of Rhuan Rafael Lungov, a recent graduate in Economics, shows how the combination of a solid academic foundation with encouragement of proactivity opens doors in prestigious global organizations.

Working as a Trainee in the TAX FSO area (tax consulting focused on the financial sector) at Ernst & Young (EY), one of the four largest audit and consulting firms in the world, known as the "Big 4", Rhuan has faced a high-level routine and accelerated learning since his start in November 2025.

“Working for a multinational company, specifically a Big 4 firm, is a constant challenge, requiring you to strive and go the extra mile at all times, but it's rewarding. Besides learning how to deal with people through…” networking "And through the encouragement of leadership in projects in your area, you learn to work under pressure, improve your analytical and rational skills, and become more proactive every day, in addition to gradually learning to handle and learn more about balance sheet analysis, accounting, Excel, and other skills important for the job market," explains the graduate.

From base to top

Landing the job at EY didn't happen by chance. Rhuan built a solid foundation throughout his undergraduate studies, gaining experience in different sectors. He began his journey in the financial sector, honing his attention to detail and data accuracy, and also had the opportunity to intern, where he consolidated skills in bank reconciliation and process organization.

All this experience gained the necessary theoretical support within the classrooms of ESEG. The graduate says that the core of subjects focused on accounting and the financial market gave him the confidence needed to assume his current role in tax consulting.

The role of ESEG

During his undergraduate studies, Rhuan used the structure of the ESEG Faculty to broaden his horizons. He participated in initiatives promoted by the Career Development Center (CDC), such as lectures focused on the Santander Trainee program and events focused on Chinese companies.

For him, the great differentiator of the Faculty's work in the area of careers was the awakening of a multifaceted profile. “ESEG helped me develop my proactive side and discover different paths. I understood that, as an economist, I didn't need to follow just one traditional line, but could explore Data Science, Consulting, and Accounting. Knowing what the market demands from a trainee is fundamental, and the faculty did an excellent job in clarifying this,” he emphasizes.

Looking back, Rhuan expresses gratitude for the ecosystem he found at the institution: “ESEG was a very important factor in my professional development, providing high-quality learning and a networking "It has a high academic level. The college encourages the pursuit of technology and current events in a unique way."”

Advice for the future

Consolidating his career in consulting, Rhuan leaves a valuable message for students who are still in undergraduate studies: “Always be alert for internship and trainee opportunities in large companies; the sooner you prepare, the better. Also, pay attention in class and to your professors' advice. They are the people who will help you the most at the beginning or during your career transition,” he advises.

Finally, the economist emphasizes the importance of fully experiencing university life beyond just books. “Enjoy every moment, create good memories, and strengthen friendships, without putting excessive pressure on yourselves and prioritizing your mental health. This is a fundamental experience not only for your career but for life,” concludes Rhuan.

Rhuan Rafael Lungov's story reinforces ESEG's commitment to training versatile professionals with a vision for the future, ready to lead in large corporations.
