MBA in Business Management holds meeting on Sustainability and ESG Strategy at BASF

ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa, through the ESG Management discipline of the MBA in Business Management, held, last Tuesday (12), the lecture 'Sustainability and the ESG Strategy at BASF'.

To discuss the topic of ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance), Professor Melissa Schleich welcomed Ana Luísa Michi, sustainability consultant for BASF in South America.

Ana Luísa spoke about her career and the strategies used by BASF for ESG practices. 'The sustainable area is very promising, and companies are increasing and offering positions worldwide because, nowadays, they need to demonstrate in practice what previously only existed in theory,' explained the guest.

The speaker also cited the UN Global Compact, the largest corporate sustainability initiative, with over 16,000 members from 160 countries. The term ESG, which emerged as a more open vision of sustainability with the pillars of Social and Governance, in addition to Environmental sustainability, was created within this Compact.

Regardless of the profession chosen by the students, Ana Luísa highlighted the importance of knowing all areas of Management, whether of people or projects. 'As future managers, you need to prepare the community and companies for accident situations and day-to-day issues'.

At the end of the lecture, the students were able to exchange experiences and ask questions about ESG and the work done by the guest speaker. 'I was flattered to be able to collaborate with such a great group, with very relevant and insightful questions for the new generation of managers. It was an honor to be with you,' concluded Ana Luísa.

For Melissa, the lecture was an excellent opportunity for professional exchange with the MBA class. 'We had an interactive lecture with Ana Luísa Michi, who spoke to us about what it's like to work in management in an ESG / Sustainability area'.

The next lecture on ESG is scheduled for May 3rd. The guest speaker will be Cintia Cespedes, Sustainability and ESG Manager at PwC.
