The Role of the Production Engineer in the Supply Chain
The School of Engineering and Management – ESEG invited Fábio Siqueira, Senior Manager of Logistics Planning and Control at Natura, to speak about the “Contribution of Production Engineers to the Supply Chain area in times of crisis”.
The event, which is part of the "ESEG Management Cycle," began with an introduction by Luiz Felipe Rocha dos Santos, a 10th-semester Production Engineering student at ESEG, about the degree program and career paths.
Next, guest speaker Fábio Siqueira used his 14 years of experience at Natura to illustrate how engineering professionals can contribute to maintaining a company's stability during times of crisis.

According to Siqueira, the uncertainties require the Supply Chain area to work with priorities, as happened with Natura, which prioritized: quality analysis and problem-solving programs; increased productivity and efficiency, since it is necessary to lower prices during a crisis, and this is only possible when production costs are reduced; an omnichannel approach with the opening of physical stores and e-commerce; a cultural shift to enter e-commerce and physical stores; and improved environmental impact, since it is pointless to save on production if the result is negative for the environment.
