Students from the Law course at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, participated in a technical visit to the Attorney General's Office of the State of São Paulo (PGE/SP) on May 7th. The experience brought together 16 students, from the 1st to the 5th semester, and was accompanied by professors Alexandre Peres Rodrigues and Fernando do Couto Henriques Jr., the undergraduate program coordinator. The activity provided an immersion into the world of public advocacy and a concrete approach to the career of State Attorney.
The visit was guided by prosecutor Valter Farid Antonio Junior, coordinator of the PGE's Higher School, who gave an informative lecture on the various aspects of public advocacy, highlighting the work of the Attorney General's Office. He detailed the composition of the body, its constitutional basis, and presented emblematic cases that reinforce its importance in defending the interests of the State. The students also had the opportunity to visit the Study Center, the institution's library, and the prosecutor's office.
The initiative allowed students to connect theoretical content with practical application, deepening their understanding of topics already covered in the classroom, such as Consumer Law, constitutional competencies, and procedural issues. The experience reinforced the connection between theory and practice, stimulating reflection on the professional paths that Law offers.
For Júlia de Souza Rodrigues, a first-semester evening student, the meeting exceeded expectations: “Based on the visit organized by Dr. Valter Farid, which was very playful and used accessible language, I was able to perceive some differences between the legal profession at the end of the 20th and 21st centuries. Being instructed personally in a work environment is more inspiring and also reaffirms the function of law in society,” says Júlia.
Nathália Nagy Martins de Melo, also a student at ESEG, highlighted how the visit helped broaden her understanding of the PGE's role. “I found it interesting to see in practice some things we've already seen in the classroom, such as the State's role in legal processes and consulting. It was good to move beyond theory and see how it all really works. It even sparked a certain interest in the field,” she commented.
For student Marcos Marques Barbosa Sampaio Magalhães, in his sixth semester, the visit to the State Attorney General's Office was an opportunity Interesting to learn more about another line of work that could be... geared towards the career path of a Bachelor of Laws.“I had the opportunity to better understand how it works from the selection process onwards., ...including the career path of a prosecutor, as well as understanding the daily routine of... work and organization relating to structure, division of processes and groups. work. The visit to the PGE library was also quite an experience. Interesting. There we saw rare books and a collection including themes. specific and open to the public, which complements the PGE school as a location for "Support for our training," the student said.
The technical visit reinforces ESEG College's commitment to providing students with enriching experiences that complement their academic training, allowing them to engage with different fields of legal practice and develop a more concrete understanding of the profession.
