ESEG becomes part of the Advanced Institute of Artificial Intelligence.

Led by educational institutions and supported by companies, the center aims to expand studies in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

The figures for the global Artificial Intelligence market are promising: some estimates point to a market of $125 billion by 2025. The same can be said of expectations regarding the AI landscape. By increasingly facilitating people's lives, it is expected to mitigate both the most complex and the most trivial societal problems, as well as contribute to the professionalization of processes in various sectors of the economy.

It is a fact, however, that this movement necessarily involves research centers and the hands of scientists who have increasingly dedicated themselves to improving what they believe are still embryonic aspects of this market. It is in this context that a group of Brazilian educational institutions and entities from other sectors have just founded the Advanced Institute of Artificial Intelligence. In addition to public universities, the select group of partners includes ESEG, the Higher School of Engineering and Management.

Founded in 2006, ESEG has, for just over a year, been intensifying its work in the field of Artificial Intelligence. In addition to incorporating the subject into the curriculum of its courses, it has invested in the construction of a specific laboratory (scheduled to open in July) and directed faculty research towards AI-related topics. This has earned the Faculty, which belongs to the Etapa Group, a seat at the Institute. “This movement should extend throughout universities. After all, we are talking about preparing professionals to work in markets that have positioned Artificial Intelligence as a platform for the development of their businesses,” explains Professor Marcelo Dias, who has been leading the studies at ESEG.

AI²

Founded in 2018, the Advanced Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AI²) is a consortium of researchers aiming to develop studies in the field of AI, driven primarily by the principle of improving technologies to serve humanity. In addition to ESEG, the AI² project includes collaborations with Unicamp, USP, Unifesp, and Unesp. The institute also partners with Petrobras, IBM, Intel, Serasa, startups, and international institutions.

Studies already underway include projects in the areas of Real-World Applications, Machine Learning, and Robotics.
