The 2021 edition features some new additions, such as a digital version and a second call for students who did not qualify for the registration fee waiver within the regular timeframe. When will the 2021 ENEM exam be held?

As usual, the 2021 ENEM exam will be administered on two consecutive Sundays, November 21st and 28th. The new feature is that the digital version of the exam will take place on the same dates, unlike the 2020 edition, when students who opted for the digital ENEM took their exams on different dates.   

Furthermore, the 2021 ENEM exam has another peculiarity. Those who were unable to request an exemption from the registration fee during the regular period and were entitled to the benefit were able to register in the second round, which took place between September 14 and 26. These students will take the exam on January 9 and 16, 2022.

What will the 2021 ENEM exam be like?

The ENEM exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions and an essay that must be presented in the genre of... argumentative essay. It's important to remember that the text should be between 7 and 30 lines long. The questions are distributed as follows: 

  • Humanities and their technologies – 45 questions
  • Natural Sciences and their technologies – 45 questions
  • Languages, Codes and their technologies – 45 questions
  • Mathematics and its technologies – 45 questions

On the first Sunday of the exam, the student will have five hours and thirty minutes to answer the questions in Languages and Humanities, in addition to writing the essay. On the second Sunday, the student will have five hours to answer the questions in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. 

How do I find out the location of my 2021 ENEM exam? 

The location of the ENEM exam is usually announced, on average, two weeks before the first day of the exam. This information can be found on the confirmation card, which also provides instructions related to the exam, such as registration number, selected foreign language option, and information about special needs assistance. What should I bring to the 2021 ENEM exam?

Many students have questions about what types of materials are allowed in the ENEM exam. Presenting your original photo ID is a requirement to take the exam. Unfortunately, every year many students miss the ENEM exam because they forget their identification documents at home. 

If you have lost your documents, you can bring the police report, provided it was filed no more than 90 days ago.

No other type of ink color is allowed for filling out the ENEM exam answer sheet. Borrowing materials is also not permitted. Therefore, bring two or three black pens with transparent barrels so you won't be caught off guard if one stops working during the exam.  

Confirmation card

Presenting the printed confirmation card is not mandatory. However, this document contains important information, such as the test location, times, and registration number. 

Water and snacks

Students may bring drinks and small snacks to consume during the exam. However, it is necessary to use common sense and take some precautions. Bring easy-to-eat foods, such as fruits (apples, pears, or bananas), cereal bars, nuts, or a light sandwich.

Avoid consuming snacks that might make noise, such as bags of chips or carbonated drinks. After all, this can disrupt the concentration of your colleagues and even your own. Finally, remember to bring a small bottle of water to stay hydrated.
