1. How to Get Away With Murder

This series, executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, stars actress Viola Davis—well-known for her excellent acting. The story focuses on the life of defense attorney Annalise Keating.

Annalise is also a law professor at a Philadelphia university and, during her course, selects five of the best students to intern at her office, an achievement that is the dream of any law student. The problem is that Annalise's life is put in jeopardy; certain events cause her name, as well as that of her interns, to lose prestige.

The series is full of secrets that are revealed little by little, but at a rather frenetic pace. For lawyers out there, it's worth trying to answer the questions Annalise poses in class. Would you be a straight-A student of hers? That's the question.

Interestingly, Shonda Rhimes, the same writer as Grey's Anatomy, is famous for giving visibility to women, Black people, and other minorities in her series. Viola herself won an Emmy Award for Best Actress in that series.

2. Scandal

Working at Pope & Associates is the dream of anyone interested in a career Connected to the law and with a dash of good connections. Since Olivia worked at the White House as communications director and helped elect the then-President of the United States, everyone in the office ends up with lawsuits involving someone high up.

One interesting fact is that the protagonist chooses her defense attorney largely based on intuition—when she's certain her clients are on the side of truth. Does this work in real life, outside of fiction?

The seasons have few episodes (around 10) and are highly praised by critics. Prepare to see a lot of hardship and zero glamour along the way.

6. The Good Wife

The series' title, literally translated as "The Good Wife," stems from the fact that lawyer Alicia Florrick, who had previously retired from the profession, must return to work in law. The reason is quite peculiar: her husband, Peter Florrick, a successful prosecutor, is arrested in a corruption scandal.

With this, Alicia needs to balance her double life: her career and motherhood. In the process, the lawyer rekindles a romantic interest in her boss, who was a college classmate. There are 7 seasons in total and over 150 episodes for you to enjoy the plot twists.

The plot features Alan Shore, Denny Crane, and Shirley Schmidt as protagonists, showing how some professionals take trials to their ultimate consequences.

What is most captivating about the series are the dialogues. Democracy, the consequences of freedom of expression, and especially politics (and harsh criticism of the political landscape of the time) are recurring themes in the episodes.

12. The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story

The series is a treat for anyone who gets excited about jury trials and prosecutions—even more so for students seeking inspiration for their future work. The most interesting part of the story is seeing how the lawyers deal with the accused: a record-holder of... NFL He is an American sports icon. Besides all the evidence to be gathered, there's also the issue of navigating the national outcry and the pressure to resolve such a brutal case.

Moreover, it was a case of absurd proportions: more than a year in duration, 133 witnesses heard, over 50,000 pages of case files—all this with 20 million viewers, as the trial ended up... on television screens of American families. Just imagine how much learning this series has to offer.
