Thais Melendez shares her journey at Google with ESEG students.

On the morning of August 22nd, ESEG College hosted Thais Melendez, Strategic Insights Leader for Financial Services at Google, as part of its Lecture Series. The meeting offered insights on how to transform data into successful strategies and on the paths to stand out in an increasingly competitive job market.

Presented by Luiz Neves, Project Coordinator at ESEG, the guest shared her academic and professional journey, highlighting that her purpose has always been to work with technology. Thais recalled her path, from the challenges in selection processes to landing a position at Google.

She emphasized that each interview and each "no" was fundamental to her learning and professional development: "Today I see that each interview and mistake made me better, and everything I went through was to believe that things would work out," the speaker commented.

During the presentation, Thais also introduced the Alphabet Inc. ecosystem, a conglomerate that brings together companies linked to Google, and provided data on its global presence, with more than 185,000 employees in 85 offices distributed across 50 countries.

For the students, the tips were practical and inspiring: do your best with the resources available, seize opportunities even when afraid, seek alternative paths, and invest in networking and mentoring.

Computer Engineering student Joyce Lídia dos Santos Barbosa, from the 6th semester, highlighted the importance of the meeting: “Today’s lecture came to prepare us for the future and showed us how networking can help us go far,” said Joyce.
