ESEG awards technology project at the 15th FETEPS.

A ESEG – Etapa Group College participated in  15th Technological Fair of the Paula Souza Center (FETEPS) between August 19th and 22nd. As a special sponsor of this edition, the ESEG It received over 6,000 people at its booth and gave them various exclusive gifts and caricatures.

Furthermore, the Faculty had the opportunity to select one of the projects participating in the fair and recognize it through the ESEG Award, which benefited the students who were part of the winning group with full scholarships for your courses of Graduation and the supervising and co-supervising professors with scholarship 100% from the courses of Professional Growth. 

After a thorough analysis of all participating projects, the evaluation panel of ESEG considered the project SR'S (SECURITY RECOGNITION SERVICE) as the winner. It was developed by the students of ETEC East Zone, Julio da Silva Neves, Maria Eduarda Silva Werlang e Victor Rafael Ferreira de Roma, under the guidance of the teachers Jeferson Roberto de Lima e Rogério Bezerra Costa.

The project SR'S It is proposed as a license plate recognition system. It can be used for security and efficiency, for example, at parking lot entrances and exits, resulting in improved access control efficiency. In this way, it enables a reduction in parking lot entry and exit times, as well as contributing to a decrease in congestion on adjacent roads.

During the four days of the event, Feteps 2024 It brought together more than 24,000 people at São Paulo Expo, in the southern zone of São Paulo. In total, 112 projects were registered, divided among Etecs (Technical Schools) and Fatecs (Technical Colleges) of São Paulo. The assignments necessarily had to fit into one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals from the UN (United Nations Organization).

Students win ESEG award.

The Technology Fair concluded on August 22nd with an awards ceremony for student projects, during which the academic director of ESEG – Etapa Group College, professor Dimas Ferreira, [Name], went up on stage for a brief speech and to present awards for the chosen project.

The academic director began his message to the students of ETEC Citing the song "Semente do Amanhã (Não Pare de Sonhar)" (Seed of Tomorrow (Don't Stop Dreaming)), written by Gonzaguinha and famously sung by Erasmo Carlos, he emphasized the part where he said that today's students are the people with the power to change tomorrow and encouraged them to always continue with their projects.

Shortly after, he had the honor of personally handing the awards to the students and teachers responsible for the... SR'S (License plate recognition).

In an interview with ESEG, The academics commented on the project's development: “Our idea arose from the problem of traffic flow in the city of São Paulo. We realized that the congestion on the roads was visible and very noticeable, and we wanted to create a system that could automatically recognize license plates to avoid delays in clearing access to certain areas,” explained the student. July. Already Victor He further explained how this method enhances security and reduces the risk of robbery by speeding up entry and exit from condominiums.

To make the project viable, the students took advantage of some techniques already existing in the market, with the aim of optimizing processes and making technologies cheaper and more accessible. Among these, computer vision and Python development were used for the software. 

Scholarship

The students of ETEC East Zone were awarded a 100% scholarship for one of the undergraduate programs at ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa.

Asked about what it was like to receive the award, July he said: “"The word we could use is surprising. We already knew about it." ESEG, "I know the story, but I never imagined we'd get this far. When the evaluators from the Faculty passed by our booth, we were impressed and thought, 'Wow, ESEG is here looking at and evaluating our project,' but we didn't imagine we would receive this recognition. It's very gratifying to be achieving all this, because the journey was very arduous and difficult. So, reaching this result is an immense satisfaction.".
