Build customer satisfaction totems, which simulate a grade for a specific service rendered. This was the objective set for seventh-semester students in the subject of Industrial Automation of the course Production Engineering From ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa. Under the guidance of Professor Gedeane Kenshima, the students presented their final projects on June 21st at Technological Innovation Laboratory (LITE).
This course covers the basic concepts of Industrial Automation., manufacturing processes, the first steps in programming with Arduino, Basic electricity, programming applications using LEDs, buttons, sensors, and displays. And, for project development, students learn about digital fabrication using... 3D printing e laser cutting. Therefore, the construction of the totems was an important activity for students to apply the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom in practice.
According to Professor Gedeane, the project focused not only on industrial automation, but also on... commercial, considering that it is a prototype already on the market. Furthermore, the initiative involved several fronts, such as schedule, electronics, digital fabrication (Cutting the structure using a laser machine/3D printing), creativity (customization of the structure with paint, stickers and accessories) and, above all, the work and experience in a team.
“"Since Production Engineering positions are geared towards management, it's important for students to understand the processes they will be managing in the future. And the best way to do this is to put the..." ‘'hands-on'’ and understand the challenges that can arise in assembly, programming, integration, and hardware. After all, Engineering is problem-solving.”The professor emphasizes.”.
Students Isabella Cavalcanti, Nathalia Bezerra, and Nicolas Alexandre created a satisfaction totem about ESEG customer service, because they realized that the college has been receiving many school visits. The project features the institution's logo and colors and includes... five levels of gradeThe ratings are: perfect, good, neutral, bad, and very bad. The group's proposal is to incorporate the totem at the end of the guided tours conducted by the Faculty and, from then on... analysis of this data, To continuously improve the actions promoted by the Events sector, as well as the service provided by the School Relations area.
Student Nicolas reiterated that through the initiative he was able to see the entire product's operation. “We built the project from scratch, from the physical parts to the Arduino code. Before, we had never had such close contact with the programming environment, so the Industrial Automation course offered an opportunity.” very solid foundation in this respect. We are sure that this will be of great importance for our future., "Because we can apply what we've learned to other projects," he said.
Thus, the construction of the totem is the result of commitment that ESEG and its professors have in making everything theoretical teaching put into practice, aiming at a complete training for students to stand out in the competitive job market.
