In its 64th edition, the event is one of the largest in the field internationally.
As a result of their Scientific Initiation project, fourth-semester Production Engineering students at ESEG submitted the article "Quality and Environmental Management: a case study in a manufacturer of ceramic filters for the foundry industry" to... 64th Brazilian Ceramics Congress. The event is the most important in the field in Brazil and has great international relevance; it will take place between November 16th and 19th in Águas de Lindóia.
Guided by Professor Silvia Boarin, the students used bibliographic and field research to support their study. "The research our students conducted is an opportunity for the refractories sector to obtain important information that can actively contribute to quality and environmental management in the manufacturing process," says Professor Silvia.
Bianca Satie, Giovana Zanotti, Luís Gustavo Ribeiro, and Maria Fernanda Hortelã received support from ESEG for a technical visit to a company that manufactures ceramic filters for the foundry industry. This allowed them to collect data and conduct a case study in the area of quality.
”"During the visit, we realized that the company already had ISO 140001 certification. With its implementation, the company experienced several financial gains, for example, it achieved greater productivity on the production line due to the lack of rework and increased satisfaction among internal and external clients," reports Luís Gustavo Ribeiro. "At all times we perceived the encouragement from ESEG, both in the theoretical part and in the industry visit to understand the practical aspects of our study.".
The Brazilian Ceramics Congress contributes to the development and dissemination of Brazilian ceramics. This is because the event allows various segments of the field to interact. In this way, participants can gain more knowledge through information and debates on the subject.
”"Participation in the Congress is of great importance, both for the academic field and for professional prestige. This experience gave us a broader vision for our future in the field of Engineering, acquiring the necessary knowledge for upcoming challenges in our lives," adds student Luís Gustavo.
