Experience ESEG – Engineering 2026 brought together challenges with robots and Lego helicopters.

On August 29, 2026, ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, held another edition of Experience ESEG – Engineering, an initiative that brings high school students closer to the academic and professional world and helps them learn about different career possibilities in practice.
Held at the Paraíso Campus, the event brought together students from the 3rd year of high school at Colégio Etapa in an immersive program dedicated to the Computer Engineering and Production Engineering courses.
Throughout the day, participants were invited to face challenges that replicated situations encountered in the daily routine of these areas, putting into practice logical reasoning, creativity, analytical skills, and teamwork.
Led by Professor Fernando Kakugawa, coordinator of the courses of Computer Engineering and Production Engineering at ESEG College, the event featured two main activities: the Helicopter Factory Challenge and Robocode Challenge.
In addition to learning, the Experience ESEG also fostered integration among participants and closer contact with the structure and university environment of ESEG.
The program began with an introduction to helicopter production, followed by activities related to production processes.
In Helicopter Factory, The students worked in teams to build small helicopters using Lego pieces.
To present the dynamics of the activities, Lázaro Moratelli Junior, professor of Production Engineering at ESEG, He explained to the participants how the helicopter assembly process would work and the steps that would be taken throughout the event.
The participants went through stages related to the development of a production process, including data collection, simulation, and operation.
The proposal allowed students to experience decision-making related to the organization and operation of a production process, as well as to divide tasks and work together to achieve the challenge's results.
Next, it was programming's turn to take center stage. Organized into teams, the participants programmed virtual robots using Robocode, a platform that allows the creation of battle strategies using the Python programming language.
After developing and programming the robots, the teams put their strategies to the test in a virtual battle arena. The competition thrilled the participants, who followed each confrontation with enthusiasm.
In the end, the last robot standing was declared the grand winner of the competition, earning important points for the overall ranking, along with the other stages of the challenge.
Laura Fukumitsu Utiyama and Pedro Dalboni Mollona, high school students at Etapa School, were part of the winning team of Experience ESEG – Engineering 2026.
For Laura, the experience helped clarify doubts about her choice of course. "I wanted to study one of the Engineering fields, and the experiment helped me better understand the profession and the skills required in the course," said the student.
Pedro also arrived at the event seeking to learn more about Engineering area and he rated the day positively. “I found it a very good experience to understand more about the areas, and today's activities helped confirm if this is indeed the right choice. Personally, I enjoyed it a lot: it was a lot of fun putting together the helicopter production line with everyone, programming the tanks was also great, in addition to learning the codes and functions,” he reported.
The activity provided students with the opportunity to experience engineering concepts in a dynamic, collaborative, and competitive environment, allowing them to see, in a concrete way, how technical knowledge can be applied to problem-solving.
By experiencing different stages of production, simulation, development, and testing, students were able to learn more about the career possibilities for engineering professionals and reflect on skills that are important for their education and the future job market.
The program concluded with an awards ceremony, recognizing the teams that excelled throughout the challenges.

By combining programming, production, and teamwork in hands-on activities, the Experience ESEG – Engineering program provided students with the opportunity to learn, in practice, about different aspects related to engineering education even before entering their undergraduate program.
