The academic semester of ESEG College, from Grupo Etapa, began in August with a Special Lecture Series which brought together prominent names from the national and international market. Over seven meetings, held between August 18 and 28, students were able to immerse themselves in debates about career, technology, sustainability, innovation, law, and the aerospace market.

The highlight of the program was... Opening lecture of the semester., conducted by Ana Karina Scarlato, Vice President of Products and Innovation at Mastercard Brazil. The executive presented a comprehensive analysis of the The future of payment methods, Ana Karina highlighted how digitalization, artificial intelligence, and new consumer demands are shaping how transactions are conducted worldwide. Using practical examples and market references, she shared her professional journey and demonstrated that adaptability and continuous learning are key competencies for those who wish to thrive in innovative environments.

On the morning of the 18th, Marcelo Taulois, CEO of China Energy Brazil, gave a lecture focused on career transition, where he used his own career path as a model, showing the importance of networking and preparation when making a change of direction. Among tips and examples, the speaker also highlighted the difference that professional experiences make in planning our journey.

High-Voltage Career: How to Ride the Wave of Disruption in Payments
The special inaugural lecture given by Ana Karina Scarlato, Vice President of Products and Innovation at Mastercard Brazil, marked the evening of the 18th with a warm welcome for students to the new academic semester. Speaking about the evolution of the payments market, the guest speaker highlighted the changes in the field and how she adapted her skills to grow. With a lecture full of tips, the students were able to understand more about the topic from the perspective of one of the most renowned players in this field. Her talk was inspiring for the students, who had the chance to understand firsthand the skills required in one of the world's most dynamic markets.

Careers in Technology: How to be a distinguished professional in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
Focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Francisco Isidro, CEO of IsiAcademy, presented reflections on the use of AI in various professions on the 19th. In an engaging manner, the guest speaker discussed the technological evolution from Project Eliza to the virtual assistants available today in the palm of our hands, and how we should envision the future. His talk encouraged students to see technology not as a threat, but as a strategic tool to expand opportunities.

Developing Professionals for the Future

Microsoft's Director of Education Industry in Latin America, Vera Cabral, gave a lecture dedicated to professional development to ESEG students on the evening of the 19th. Working for a technology giant, Vera explained the importance of digital transformation and how digital tools, when used correctly, help develop essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability.

Careers in the field of Mediation, Arbitration and Dispute Boards
Two prominent figures in the field of Mediation in Brazil, Daniel Falci, Secretary-General of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of AMCHAM and president of the INOVARB Group, along with Aline Nóbrega, Deputy Secretary-General at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of AMCHAM and vice-president of the INOVARB Group, held a discussion on the multiple career possibilities within Law, focusing on the areas of negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. On the 21st, the speakers showed how these areas are expanding and offer alternative paths for young lawyers seeking to work outside the traditional model of advocacy. The dialogue also provided examples of how these practices have been applied in large companies and international negotiations.

Thais Melendez, Leader of Insights Strategic for Financial Services at Google, she shared her journey on the 22nd and showed students how to transform data into successful strategies. She explained how information analysis can guide business decisions, open new opportunities, and set professionals apart in a competitive market.

Circular Economy: A necessary and urgent transition
On the evening of the 22nd, it was Fabiana Quiroga's turn, a specialist in Circular Economy, to address one of the most pressing issues of our time: the need to rethink how we consume and produce. The lecture provided an overview of the Circular Economy model, highlighting its importance for sustainability and for building innovative solutions in different sectors.

Careers in the Aerospace Market
The following week, on the 27th, aerospace engineer and entrepreneur Lucas Fonseca, a leading figure in the Brazilian aerospace industry, gave an inspiring presentation on careers in the aerospace sector. With international experience and participation in cutting-edge projects, he discussed the opportunities the market offers, including the emergence of startups and specialized companies that are driving the sector's growth in the country. Fonseca also emphasized the importance of investing in science and technology for Brazil to keep pace with global trends in the sector.

How the Supreme Federal Court decides
Concluding the cycle on the 28th, Professor Virgílio Silva, a tenured professor of Constitutional Law at USP, gave a lecture on the behind-the-scenes workings of the Supreme Federal Court's (STF) decision-making process. He explained how deliberations are structured in the country's highest court and emphasized the importance of understanding institutional functioning for a solid legal education. The meeting provided students with a more in-depth view of the STF's role in the Brazilian democratic balance.
