On March 25th, morning students at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, were able to participate in a special lecture on "Leadership of High-Performance Teams," given by Cristiane Coelho, general manager of Knight Therapeutics.

With over 20 years of experience in the field, Cristiane recounted her journey of hard work to reach her current position, having held various management and leadership roles. With "leadership" as the main theme, the speaker broke down the subject in a way that allowed students to understand the responsibilities and importance of leadership positions, from their introduction to practical examples.

“A leader is someone who illuminates,” Cristiane summarizes when speaking about the role of a manager within a team. There are various types and forms of leadership, ranging from commanding, influencing, controlling, creating hierarchies, among other functions. With this, the students had the opportunity to better understand how management positions work.

Among the various leadership styles and approaches, some skills are undeniable when it comes to being a leader. These include: good communication, decision-making, empathy, and the ability to motivate. These skills are highly relevant to today's increasingly dynamic and constantly evolving market.

“It was sensational to see the level of the students. The questions were incredible! In a super dynamic market, where you need people who are much more prepared, with various analytical possibilities, having these students already inspired to take on leadership in the future market is amazing,” highlights Cristiane, reinforcing her perception of ESEG and its students.

One very important point that the speaker brought up was inclusion and diversity. As a woman in a high-level management position in the corporate world, Cristiane recounted her journey to the top, overcoming many barriers and prejudices. Today, however, she says she is happy to see a noticeable evolution in companies, which has helped inspire young female students at ESEG College.

“I believe the lecture was very important, especially regarding the issue of pursuing our dreams through planning, and thus, perhaps, achieving leadership. We don't see many women leaders in the market, so it was beautiful to see how she has her own dynamic, how she reached the position, without feeling oppressed by her informal way of being. For me, it was rewarding to see her speak and I was able to learn a lot from the lecture,” exclaims Sthefani Queiroz, an Economics student.

At the end of the lecture, the students had another opportunity to interact with Cristiane through a question and answer session.

At the end of the event, Cristiane emphasized: “I would like to thank ESEG for the invitation to connect with these talented young people from the college. It was a sensational experience!”.

Here at ESEG College, our commitment to the future of our students is very strong. That's why lectures like this are essential to bring our students closer to the best professionals in the market.
