Video games, careers in the financial market, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues, and presentations of studies from the Research Centers were some of the topics covered during the two-day event.
ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa held its 1st EXPO ESEG on November 11th and 12th. The event aimed to bring together lectures from professionals, present the results of student work done in the Research Centers, and encourage interaction among students.

The first day of EXPO ESEG featured presentations on the current job market with new career opportunities in e-sports, finance, industry, and design. In addition, it also included exhibitions of work from the Applied Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and Logistics Centers, and concluded with the 27th Business Communication Meeting – a biannual event for Production Engineering students coordinated by Professor Karlene Campos.
Ana Passos, businesswoman, investor, and professional gamer, presented new job opportunities in electronic games, an area that grows every year and in which Brazil ranks 13th in the world. Some examples of roles she presented included: logistics in championships, by production engineers; investments by economic scientists; budget, event, and team management by administrators; game development by computer engineers; and legal support by lawyers. At ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa, the topic is already addressed in the Economics and Finance and Artificial Intelligence and Robotics departments.
Presented by Virgínia Prestes, a financial market professional with over 15 years of experience as a trading desk manager, the lecture provided information about the BTG environment and the various roles within the area. Virgínia discussed the different certifications that facilitate entry into the profession, emphasizing that interns are not required to obtain them to work, but that it can open up opportunities and provide a competitive advantage.
Bruno Maciel, a master process consultant chemist, explained the role of the Brazilian Aluminum Association and its objectives. He discussed the industry's trajectory from 1.0 to the current 4.0, a moment of data-driven strategy. He provided a practical example of how Process Control works and the importance of the data engineer in organizing this data to guide demands.
Rodrigo Skeff, art director and UX/UI consultant, spoke about the changing role of designers. Previously working in isolation, these professionals are now part of the company as a whole, managing ideas, overseeing products and services, and participating in strategic decision-making. He emphasized that hard skills are important, but soft skills are essential for anyone wishing to work in the field.
The projects presented were: Rhian Amaral's project, a support for books and cell phones for people with disabilities or who are bedridden, suggesting it be screwed to the ceiling above the bed for use in a hospital setting; Gabriela Bottini's project, a wearable hairbrush with an anatomical splint or cylinder for people with physical disabilities or low mobility; and Pedro Moraes's project, glasses with an activateable luminous frame. After each presentation, participants were able to offer suggestions to help the students responsible improve their products. The Center is coordinated by Professor Dr. Fernando Jardim.
Coordinated by Professor Leila Canegusuco, the Center simulated a company whose product is a platform for improving employees' soft skills, offering mentoring for resume development, lectures with tips from market professionals, courses, individual support, data provision for partner companies, interview simulations with dynamics, and a networking room. Students Thiago Loeschner and Eliseu Camillo developed a business model for Get Connected using the Business Model Canvas; validated the project with the Flyer Customer Discovery model; and created a business plan describing the company, product and service development, market analysis, marketing and sales, strategy, operations management, and finance. The company was based on three of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – good health and well-being; decent work and economic growth; and reduced inequality.
Student Rhian Amaral presented the definition and construction of a benchmark indicator for evaluating Logistics in Brazil. The Center is coordinated by Professor João Netto.
This semester, the main theme of the Meeting was "ESG, Communication and Corporate Reputation". Professor Carlos Cerqueira began with a lecture in which he explained what ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) is and the origin of the term, discussed its relationship with the SDGs, and showed actions taken by companies that do not align with the concept – such as the purchase of wood from illegal deforestation, slave labor, and fraud. The Meeting continued with the presentation of five student papers and a panel composed of Professor Carlos Cerqueira, Professor Fernando Umezu, Professor Marcel Dallaqua, Professor Marcelo Carvalho, and Professor Silvia Boarin.

4. Socioeconomic disparity: the role of organizations in combating social inequality – Andrés Luminatti, Bruno Rodrigues, Paulo Khalil, Thiago Magalhães, Vinicius Rodrigues
5. Diversity and social inclusion in the business context: a competitive advantage – Alexandre Quinto, Danilo Camargo, David Dantas, Diego Leite, Gustavo Oliveira and Vinicius Inoue

For the second day of EXPO ESEG, participants attended lectures on the Endless Forest project, ESG, cryptocurrency, and Student Support. The event also featured the launch of the Law Center and exhibitions of work from the Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and Economics and Finance Centers.
This project is coordinated by Professor Marcelo Carvalho, Master's degree holder and General Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies at ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa. The coordinator commented that all Research Centers are involved, in addition to the actions being developed, such as the study of Brazilian biomes; exploration of tools that each area can contribute to forest preservation; lectures; debates; articles; products; indicators; and a documentary. He emphasized that the project is open to non-students and the research lines involved are:
1. Applied Creativity – “Eco-innovation”
2. Environmental Law
3. Economics and Finance – a study on the value of a forest today and in the future.
4. Entrepreneurship – “Entrepreneurship in the Forest” project”
5. Logistics – with solutions in the area
6. Artificial Intelligence applied to forest preservation – “Blockchain & AI” project”
7. Sustainability – “Carbon Credit Trading” project”
8. EMUN Endless Forest – featuring a United Nations simulation activity for debates on the preservation of Brazil's natural biomes.
9. Lectures, debates and partnerships with companies
10. Documentary – “Zero Forest”
Lecture given by Melissa Schleich, Senior Executive of Capital Markets and ESG. She discussed the development of Social, Environmental, and Governance aspects in companies and the valuation of brands. In addition to outlining the main pillars of ESG, she discussed the difference between Sustainability and the new concept, and the relevance of ESG to the capital market.
The current topic was brought up by Marcello Paz, an expert in cryptocurrency and derivatives investments.
The Center is coordinated by Professor Carlos Cerqueira, PhD, and the works presented were: Carbon sequestration and compensation, planting more trees, by Pedro Alves and Pedro Moraes; KiDiCondE: didactic kit for electrical conduction and relationships between energy matrix, electricity, sustainability and environmental impacts caused by the hydroelectric plant, by Rhian Amaral, Rafael Andrade, Lucas Tarif and Sabrina Santos.
The presentations included: Cilmara Lopes's work on the uses of blockchain in the supply chain; Daniel Bassani's on web scraping in the stock market and real estate investment funds; Gabriel Santos's Wolfvision solution; Geovana Lima's gamified project "Fred: your new academic assistant"; and Lucas Finezi's e-game "Exodus" for Floresta sem Fim. Finally, Professor Marcel Dallaqua, coordinator of the Center, invited the participants to develop research on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
The coordinator of the Center, Professor Fernando Umezu, presented the Center for Economics and Finance and opened the floor to the projects developed by the students on topics related to fixed income, with the development of an e-book; variable income, with an e-book and podcast on the subject; direct treasury bonds, with an e-book developed; crowdfunding; and game theory, with an e-book and videos developed. Simone Bortoletto, psychologist, psychopedagogue, and Human Resources consultant, presented the Student Support program's initiatives: Career Development Center, with suggestions for internships; tips for job interviews; close relationship between professors and students, answering academic and professional questions, as well as support for exchange programs; and extracurricular activities encouraging traditional and e-sports, lectures, events, theater, music, and the Eseguerreiro Marathon.
EXPO ESEG will be held periodically to showcase the latest news from ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapae – and the work developed by faculty and students, in pursuit of the continuous development of the Faculty.
