ESEG hosts the 28th Business Communication Meeting.

On May 28, 2022, ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa held the 28th Business Communication Meeting. With the participation of students, professors, and coordinators, the event addressed the theme 'Cybersecurity, privacy, and communication'. Meeting the new demands of the virtual world, digital security measures and aspects of corporate cybercrime were some of the topics discussed by students in the Business Communication 2 course, taught by Professor Dr. Karlene Campos.

The Law Coordinator, Professor Dr. Fernando do Couto Henriques Júnior, opened the event with a lecture on the General Data Protection Law. Law No. 13.709/2018, known as LGPD, regulates the processing of personal data. Its main objectives are:

• To protect the fundamental rights of freedom and privacy and the free development of the personality of the natural person;
• Establish clear rules regarding the collection and processing of personal data;
• To promote free competition while guaranteeing data portability.

With the virtual world and constant updates in the way we communicate, the excess of information ends up being harmful if there is no regulation, and what could facilitate communication ends up monitoring people, taking away their privacy. 'Privacy is the right to the confidentiality of personal information,' Professor Fernando reminded us.

Next, the groups presented the projects they carried out under the guidance of Professor Dr. Karlene Campos.

Group 1 - Gabriel Guimarães, Jairo Menezes, João Isidório and Lucas Iamamoto
Cybersecurity and its importance in today's world.
The students introduced the topic, highlighting its relevance over the years based on technological evolution;

Group 2 – Wesley Barbato, João Pedroso, Davi Gomes
Cybersecurity by experts
The group presented guidelines from experts to ensure the safety of businesses and individuals.

Group 3 – Paulo César de Miranda, Henrique Abdala and Vitória Dutra
JBS – Cyberattacks
The students explained the cyberattack suffered by the JBS company, highlighting the consequences and the measures taken to resolve the case.

Group 4 – Sara do Nascimento, Renê Camargo and João Pedro Lucarelli
WannaCry
The group presented WannaCry, a malicious software that prevents access to stored data.

At the end of the presentations, the professors praised the students and discussed some of the aspects covered, highlighting the importance of the event's theme today and the contribution of the Business Communication Meeting to the students' academic enrichment.
