The 2017 edition of the awards had 240 projects submitted across four categories.
The 8th edition of the ESEG Management Award recognized four student projects from the Centro Paula Souza in the categories of Industrial Controls and Processes, Management, Health, and Information Technology and Infrastructure. In total, 240 projects from high school, integrated technical high school, modular education, and distance learning students from Centro Paula Souza units in the Greater São Paulo region competed for the award.
For Sônia Charpentier, technical advisor at the Superintendency of the Paula Souza Center, participating in the ESEG Management Award helps in the training of Etec students. "Students have a more meaningful learning experience with the development and presentation of projects of this level, and this certainly facilitates their entry into the job market," she emphasizes.
The awards ceremony for the finalist projects began with a lecture by Professor João Ferreira Netto, PhD, from the Production Engineering course at ESEG, on "Logistics in Companies and Organizations in the Brazilian Context".
Next, certificates and prizes were awarded to the members of the groups responsible for the winning projects and their respective advisors: “QR Code Technology in favor of information and culture”, by students from Etec Aristóteles Ferreira, winners in the Management category; “Organic fertilizer from sewage sludge with the addition of phosphorus and potassium extracted from banana peel”, by students from Etec Trajano, winners in the Industrial Controls and Processes category; “Doctor Now”, by students from Etec Parque da Juventude, winners in the Information Technology and Infrastructure category; and “Repellent soap from recycled household oil”, by students from Etec Cubatão, winners in the Health category.
For Professor Veridiana Ferreira from Etec Parque da Juventude, who guided the students in the "Doctor Now" project, participating in the ESEG Award is an important challenge for the students and for her as a teacher: "I also benefit from discovering that the more we encourage them, the more ability they show," she says.
Each of the Etecs (Technical Schools) whose groups had their projects awarded also received an audiovisual system with a mixing console, amplifier, speakers, wireless microphones, projection screen and projector, or electronic equipment of equivalent value.
