Last Tuesday (19), ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, hosted Vera Cabral, Director of Education Industry in Latin America at Microsoft, for the lecture “Technology and Career: Developing Professionals for the Future”, held in the auditorium of the Ana Rosa unit.
Rodrigo Assirati, a professor in the Engineering courses at ESEG College, began the evening's learning session by announcing a topic that directly addresses the challenges and opportunities of our time: Technology and Career. "We live in a scenario where technologies are evolving at an accelerated pace, transforming not only the job market but also the skills needed to build a solid and relevant career path. In this lecture, we will understand how digital transformation is shaping professions and how we can use these same tools to develop essential skills for success," said the professor.
With extensive experience in executive and advisory roles at institutions such as the São Paulo State Department of Education, the Ministry of Education, and the Inter-American Development Bank, as well as experience in the private sector, Vera shared reflections on the impacts of digital transformation and artificial intelligence on the job market, and on pathways for young professionals to build relevant and lasting careers.
The speaker emphasized that "we are the masters of our own destiny and we need to be prepared to react to what happens," encouraging students to take a leading role in their own journeys. According to her, artificial intelligence is redefining processes, increasing efficiency, and accelerating the pace of innovation, as well as transforming teaching and learning in educational institutions.
Vera also emphasized that the development of behavioral skills, combined with ethics and leadership, is increasingly valued. "Learning never ends," she stated, reminding everyone that a career should be seen as more than just an occupation or financial gain: "Work needs to be something that gives us pleasure, that fulfills us, and money will be a consequence," the professional affirmed.
During the conversation, he also emphasized that AI influences educational and university choices, shaping future opportunities according to economic, social, and global changes, requiring sustainable planning and balanced educational strategies.
Finally, Vera answered participants' questions about the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy and presented Microsoft initiatives aimed at training students.
The Lecture Series is an activity of the ESEG Faculty that brings students closer to the leading professionals in the market.
