Guest professor gives lecture focused on Artificial Intelligence.

As part of Lecture Series, On Tuesday the 19th, ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, hosted Francisco Isidro, professor and CEO of IsiAcademy, to speak to students about Artificial Intelligence.

“I’m here at ESEG and it speaks for itself. Fantastic infrastructure, an incredible place. I’m very happy to be here and I came here to talk to these undergraduate students from various courses about their careers in the field of AI,” Francisco points out.

Focusing on the history of AI (Artificial Intelligence), the lecture covered key moments in its development, from the Turing Test, through Project Eliza, and later Machine Learning, Deep Blue, Deep Learning, culminating in the launch of GPT Chat and other AIs we see today.

Professor Francisco also highlighted both positive and negative aspects of the widespread use of AI that we are experiencing. On the one hand, some professions will become extinct, but on the other hand, there will be an evolution where AI will work alongside professionals, bringing new market opportunities. In this case, the integration of artificial intelligence into daily life will depend on people's willingness to acquire the knowledge to make the best use of these tools.

“You need to understand not only how to be a user, but also the main impacts that artificial intelligence can have on your daily life, whether by optimizing or improving a process, enabling a solution that was not possible before. But mainly so that you can, using your fundamentals in your career, be a professional who sees and has a more critical, more analytical sense,” he explains.

Focusing on professional development, the speaker suggested that students be different, that is, use AI to their advantage, not depending on it for everything, but rather using it as a powerful tool for their daily work.

“I want them to see AI as a tool that will enhance their learning and their routine, so that, using its fundamentals in their career, they can be a professional who views AI with a more critical, more analytical sense,” comments Francisco.

Finally, a question and answer session was opened where students could ask the expert questions, which were answered in an easy and didactic way, maintaining good engagement with those present at the activity.

Mariana Barbosa, a law student, shared her perspective on attending the lecture and how the topic of AI can influence her future. "Entering the job market in the legal field, Artificial Intelligence is a very broad tool for analyzing processes and legal situations, and having this knowledge in college helps broaden horizons and brings new opportunities," says the student.
