The lecture on leadership addressed important topics for students to reflect on.

Last Wednesday (24), ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, hosted Denis Lopes, president of Saber Aprendizes, for a lecture on Leadership for the future, where students were able to discuss topics that are important to society.

The event is part of the Career Development Center, which offers students activities, consulting services, and lectures to help them develop their professional skills. Before the lecture, On the 22nd and 23rd, the Faculty held the ESEG Simulation., an event focused on the beginning of graduates' careers.

Before the lecture, the students were already excited and engaged with the topics that would be covered during the evening. Miguel Carvalho Mota, from the Economics course, shared some of his expectations for the event. “The lecture will certainly enhance my career, offering suggestions on how to behave in the job market, developing my potential, and making us reflect on very important issues for our society,” the student said.

For the speaker, being able to share his journey with young people and show them the challenges was delightful. “I am grateful for the invitation and for being able to participate in this work with young people. I have a career spanning over 30 years in leadership and I understand that it is extremely important to explain to young people how to pursue a successful professional career, seeking what lies within each of them.”

The presentation highlighted the importance of leadership in the professional environment and how it affects employee development, noting that there will be challenges and opportunities for everyone. Denis emphasized that a leader must understand the context of what is happening in order to create opportunities and transform people's lives.

Upon becoming a leader, a professional must maintain their authenticity without losing their essence, because the way you treat a person is what defines who you are. This was an important piece of advice he gave, given his history in high-level positions and his responsibility for his actions. Furthermore, it is very important to have good communication skills and serve as an inspiration to your team.

Renan Garcia Brossi, an Economics student, spoke about the importance of the lecture for his career. “The lecture added a lot to both my personal and professional knowledge. With the theme of leadership, I was able to understand this aspect of the work that helps in development, project presentation, and day-to-day operations within companies, serving all sectors,” the student explained about what he absorbed.

Denis took the opportunity to address sensitive yet extremely important issues for society, such as inclusion, representation, and diversity in companies. The speaker spoke about the difficulties he encountered throughout his career as part of a minority and how we must have social awareness to make workplaces more diverse, inclusive, and representative.

At the end of the event, a question and answer session was held, where students could ask questions directly to the guest speaker. The lecture, part of the Career Development Center, reaffirms ESEG College's commitment to the professional future of our students.
