Last Friday (22) ESEG College, from Grupo Etapa, received Fabiana Quiroga, Director of Circular Economy, to discuss this important topic with students, in addition to raising environmental awareness. The event was part of the special Lecture Cycle at the beginning of this semester.
Revisiting an important and relevant topic for our daily lives, Fabiana highlighted the importance of the Circular Economy and how companies and individuals should pay attention to sustainable development and the urgency of adopting this solution, which will be crucial for our planet.
“Today I had the opportunity to talk about Circular Economy, highlighting the issue of plastic and its effects, to this class here at ESEG, showing how important it is for each of us to have conscious and appropriate consumption. That's why I'm going to show why the Circular Economy is essential and urgent for us to implement and begin a sustainable transformation,” explains Fabiana, about the topic she presented to the students.
The speaker presented alarming and concerning data that simultaneously shocks and raises awareness. One of the biggest villains on planet Earth is plastic, which has a negative impact on its decomposition, since nature cannot regenerate this substance, causing warnings about the future, as more and more companies use products, finishes, and parts made from this synthetic material.
Law student Estela Rosa de Godoi shared her perspective after attending the lecture and expressed her impact on the cause: “Today’s lecture will be very beneficial for understanding how the Circular Economy affects our lives and how to raise awareness for each of us. We must take care of our planet; with small actions we can guarantee a greener and more sustainable future,” commented the student.”
With growing concern for sustainability, governments in various countries are already seeking solutions to save our planet. In some cases, taxes, more aggressive legislation, bans on companies, resin taxes, and other actions are being implemented. In Brazil, regulations on Circular Energy are advancing, making our country one of the world leaders in sustainability, standing out with public policies that seek to migrate from the linear economic system to the circular system.
The lecture addressed a very important topic that generated debate among the students at the end of the event. Fabiana Quiroga was part of this month's special lecture series in August, which features prominent figures in their fields delivering incredible talks.
