ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, hosted two prominent figures in the field of Mediation and Arbitration from ANCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil), who delivered an incredible lecture to undergraduate students as part of the special August Lecture Series.
Daniel Falci, Secretary-General of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of AMCHAM and president of the INOVARB Group, along with Aline Nóbrega, Deputy Secretary-General at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of AMCHAM and vice-president of the INOVARB Group, spoke with the students present about careers in mediation and professional development within the field.
“"There is a world far beyond the judiciary and the combativeness we observe, and today we have come to show some of the appropriate methods for conflict resolution," Daniel points out when speaking about the lecture.
In turn, Aline explained the points she would discard during the conversation: "Today we're going to talk about careers and share our journey with you, highlighting aspects such as research, published articles, and studies that have brought us to where we are today," Aline commented.
The journey in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration offers many ramifications and possibilities for those seeking to enter the market. Some advantages a professional can have include developing their soft and technical skills, as well as having a strong professional network. In this field, knowing how to deal with people and being resourceful can be crucial for professional growth.
During the lecture, Daniel and Aline showed a glimpse into the daily routine of those who work in arbitration centers, going through examples of cases brought by the speakers, the preparations for a hearing, and the role played by a Mediator or Arbitrator, serving as a comparison to some other possible positions within the field of activity such as Assistant Arbitrator, Member of... Dispute Board, Case Manager, Business Developer and Secretary General.
The event also included the participation of newcomers to the Faculty, such as Kelvin Barros, a freshman in Computer Engineering, who gave his first impressions of the institution: “I am very satisfied with what I have seen so far, whether it be the structure, the welcome, and the lectures, which are truly inspiring, with excellent speakers who, without a doubt, add a lot to this beginning for me.”.
At the end of the lecture, the students were able to ask questions to the speakers, who answered them in a practical and didactic way, bringing a point of view from someone who is already established in this career, and giving insights valuable.
