Lecture inspires students about career transition and professional future.

On Monday morning (18), ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, hosted Marcelo Taulois, CEO of China Energy in Brazil, for the lecture “Dealing with the transition and the search for a career after university”.

The meeting, held at the Paraíso Campus and opened by Fernando Kakugawa, coordinator of the Computer Engineering and Production Engineering courses, brought together students and alumni from all areas.

Marcelo shared his professional journey, marked by different transitions, from experiences in Europe to his work in large energy and sanitation companies in Brazil. At the beginning of his speech, he discussed aspects of Chinese culture, emphasizing the value placed on education, knowledge, and investment in people as a strategy for global development. He also highlighted the importance of constant reinvention and the search for what truly motivates each professional.

Among the main pieces of advice, he drew attention to the role of internships in academic training: in addition to providing practical experience, they contribute to the development of communication skills and to evaluating whether the career choice is on the right track. "Even if it's not your dream field, it's important to move forward and continue pursuing what sparks your passion," he emphasized.

Another point emphasized was the importance of networking in securing opportunities, coupled with practical tips on how to behave in job interviews, especially in traditional companies, demonstrating clarity and confidence in answers. Marcelo also reflected on Generation Z, which values purpose, inclusion, respect, and well-being in the workplace, factors that are transforming corporate culture.

Commenting on her participation in the lecture series, she emphasized the importance of initiatives like this for students: “These meetings are inspiring because they show other possible paths. If something doesn't work out, we need to learn and reinvent ourselves as professionals. Today I do something completely different from what I planned at the beginning of my career, but I managed to reinvent myself at each stage. That's why I share my experience: to encourage students to always strive to do better, with quality.”.

In closing, he left an encouraging message: the final decision in a selection process also belongs to the candidate. If there is no alignment or comfort with the opportunity, it is valid to give up and start over; after all, this could be the true starting point for professional life. This applies to the beginning or to a career transition.

The meeting offered ESEG College students not only an overview of the energy sector and market transformations, but also valuable lessons on self-development and career advancement.
