Etapa Group College launches multidisciplinary Law course with research center.

On March 15, 2021, ESEG – Faculdade do Grupo Etapa launched its first Law degree program. The program was authorized with the highest possible score by the MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education).

“From the very beginning of the course, we aimed to train not only excellent professionals, but also ethical human beings aware of their role in society,” shares Professor Alexandre Maldonado, coordinator of the Law course. “We know the challenge is great, but we are prepared to follow the same path as the Production Engineering undergraduate program, which established ESEG as the best college in the city of São Paulo for that course.”.

The curriculum for the new undergraduate program at the Etapa Group Faculty aims to prepare students to be professionals capable of solving complex and varied problems. “Furthermore, it is based on the pillars of strong teaching, creativity, multidisciplinarity, and innovation. We want our law graduates to master, for example, Artificial Intelligence techniques to optimize work in the legal field,” says Professor Marcelo Dias, general coordinator of the undergraduate program at ESEG.

“We started with the idea of presenting a different course, since the traditional model has proven ineffective. The job market is no longer satisfied with the profile of graduates based on the saturated form of legal education. Therefore, we reviewed this model and offer a course based on new guidelines, such as technology, interdisciplinarity, global themes of societal development, and more practical content,” says Maldonado.

Like the other areas of ESEG – Administration, Economics, Computer Engineering, and Production Engineering – Law will also have a multidisciplinary research center. Initially, the focus will be on seeking innovations in conflict resolution methods. Students can also pursue studies in Applied Creativity, Economics and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Logistics, and Sustainability.
