To broaden students' knowledge of leadership and team management, ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, held a lecture on December 10th entitled "Leadership of High-Performance Teams," led by Cristiane Coelho, general manager of Knight Therapeutics. Along with law professor Danilo Bueno, Cristiane welcomed freshmen to begin their academic life before the official start of classes in 2026, as well as some returning students.

With over 25 years of experience in major pharmaceutical and chemical companies such as AstraZeneca, Roche, and Abbott, Cristiane has built a career marked by leadership positions in areas such as Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Business Intelligence. Currently leading Knight Therapeutics in Brazil, the executive focuses on creating collaborative environments that foster talent development and high-performance teams.

During the presentation, Cristiane addressed essential elements of effective leadership, highlighting the role of self-development, strategic vision, and adaptability in today's market.

The speaker reinforced the importance of students taking a leading role from the beginning of their careers. “We need to see ourselves as a business. Students need to build experience to be sought after by the market. Management will always exist and will always be human. It's necessary to use AI alongside your work, but it will never surpass the human being,” Cristiane emphasized. She also reminded the audience that leadership is not restricted to hierarchical positions: “Leadership is also about leading your position, your work, your activities, not just a team. It's not just about hierarchy.”

The students were able to understand in practice:

  • What characterizes a high-performing team and how does this model impact organizational results?;
  • The importance of diversity and inclusion in creating productive and engaged environments;
  • Real-life cases and strategies implemented by large corporations to develop talent and strengthen teams.

During the event, Professor Danilo Bueno highlighted the importance of strategic vision for future professionals. “The field of Law requires a lot of strategy. Students, both in Law and other fields, need to explore new perspectives and pursue them. An example is sports law or pet law, which is something that is being widely discussed. Those entering the course now need to ask themselves what the future will be like. Using AI to your advantage is being visionary; the market demands that you not be an ordinary lawyer,” he observed.

The lecture reinforced ESEG's commitment to offering educational experiences that go beyond theory, bringing students closer to the skills most valued by the contemporary job market. By providing direct contact with leaders of large corporations, the institution seeks to prepare its students to act critically, innovatively, and strategically—essential qualities for anyone who wants to excel in any field.
