The National Meeting of Undergraduate Courses in Administration will take place on December 4th, 5th and 6th.

Papers by students from ESEG, a college of the Etapa Group, have been accepted for oral presentation at the 31st National Meeting of Undergraduate Courses in Administration (Enangrad) between December 4th and 6th. These papers, resulting from final course projects and course assessments, will be presented by students and graduates of the Production Engineering program on Sigma Capability, Risk Management, the role of leadership, and emotional intelligence.

Presented in the Maintenance and Production Improvement course, the articles "Sigma Capability Analysis: a case study in two logistics companies" and "Operational Excellence: a case study in risk management" were supervised by Professor Leila Canegusuco, PhD, who teaches the course.

Caio Henrique Correia, Carlos Nascimento Souza, and Maria Izabel Pequeneza, who graduated in Production Engineering in the first semester of 2020, studied Sigma Capability in the logistics sector. “ESEG gave us the opportunity for academic production; Professor Leila encouraged the creation of this article, which led us to explore a space beyond the walls of the college. It will certainly bear fruit both professionally and personally,” says Carlos.

“Professor Leila helped at every stage with suggestions and tips to better develop the topic. In the end, Professor Silvia joined in reviewing the work and then sent it to Enangrad,” says Caio. ‘I believe that the approval of the article ends up being a differentiator for the curriculum, it can help open doors for new academic work and in a selection for possible postgraduate programs.”.

“This opportunity adds incredible value to both academic and professional resumes. ESEG provides us with this opportunity for research and academic development, stimulating and encouraging us to create articles, leading us to explore topics that are part of our daily work,” says Maria Izabel.

Still in their 10th semester of Production Engineering, students Isabela Gaiardo, Isabella Hirose, and Larissa Martins will present their paper on Risk Management. "To facilitate the progress and understanding of the subject, we sought to apply the Six Sigma concept to the area where I work, risk management in transportation," explains Isabella.

“"It's always very rewarding to have our academic efforts recognized and to know that we've been able to reflect and apply that knowledge to our professional reality," says Larissa.

“I see this participation as a great opportunity to publicize our work, the result of our dedication, and the name of our faculty. Furthermore, it is very interesting to participate in conferences where other researchers share common interests. The significant contribution of this study is being able to apply theoretical concepts in the professional environment. The acceptance of this article at Enangrad is an important recognition,” says Isabela.

Two other articles that will be presented at the Meeting are the result of Graduation Projects (TGs) from the first semester of 2020; the TG is presented to complete the course at ESEG. Letícia Silva researched leadership and Lariane Santos researched emotional intelligence.

Titled “The Leader’s Role in Preparing the Team for the Merger Process: A Case Study in an Engineering Company,” Letícia was supervised by professors Fernando Jardim and Carlos Cerqueira. “The idea for the topic arose from the merger that the company I work for was undergoing and the obviousness of the issue among all the employees involved. It was clear that everyone was expecting something from their leaders. Therefore, the idea was to study the leader's role in this situation, from the employees' perspective,” she explains.

Lariane Santos was guided by professors Marcos Dornelles and Carlos Cerqueira in her study of "The relationship between emotional intelligence and various business behaviors." "The choice of topic came about during one of Professor Dornelles' classes, where emotional intelligence was mentioned. I became interested in studying and delving deeper into it, and for my thesis I focused on behavior.".

The 31st ENANGRAD will focus on the theme "New National Curriculum Guidelines (DCNs): Innovation, Technology and Market". The meeting aims to bring together students, professors, researchers and managers of Administration courses. In addition, it will award prizes to the best papers. The papers will be published in academic journals with Qualis ranking. This edition's program will include more than 100 hours of discussions, lectures, panels, workshops, mini-courses, a hackathon, and other activities.

“From an academic perspective, I saw participating as an opportunity to contribute to a current and highly relevant topic; having the opportunity to stand out with a published article is quite significant. Professionally, I see it as an attractive differentiator in the job market, since concern for people is essential for the success of teams and companies. Interest in the topic can be seen as part of the soft skills that are so valued today,” Letícia concludes.
