On March 16th, ESEG College hosted the panel discussion “Careers in the Financial Market: Certifications, Skills, and Trajectory,” bringing together students and experts for a conversation about career paths, industry demands, and growth prospects in the field.
The meeting was attended by Fernando Bueno, product specialist at Ágora Investimentos; Johnny Mendes, lead professor of the Finance League at ESEG; and moderated by professor Guilherme Ferraz, coordinator of the Business Administration and Economics courses at the institution.
Professor Johnny Mendes highlighted the impact of the initiative on student development and the promotion of financial education. “Global Money Week is a way to improve people's financial literacy worldwide. Here at ESEG, we've managed to bring students closer to the financial market, introduce them to different career paths, and show the importance of certifications for those who want to pursue a career in finance,” he commented.
Right at the start of the panel, participants highlighted that the financial market goes far beyond traditional areas and offers opportunities for different professional profiles.
They emphasized that the sector involves not only investments, but also areas of technology, commerce, legal matters, data, and products, forming an ecosystem with diverse possibilities for action.
To illustrate, Fernando Bueno showed how each ESEG course could fit into this market, reinforcing the need for professionals with multiple skills and characteristics.
In addition to the areas of expertise, the panel discussed the essential skills for those wishing to build a career in the sector. Communication emerged as one of the main skills, along with the development of soft skills and adaptability.
Another important point was the guidance for students to seek areas they are passionate about. "It's important to find a path where you can develop and even enjoy the work," was one of the recommendations shared by Fernando Bueno.
During the event, the certifications most valued by the financial market were also discussed, considered one of the main differentiators for those wishing to enter the field.
The question and answer session allowed students to ask questions about hiring, preparatory courses, selection processes, and adapting to company culture, including practices such as onboarding and professional integration.
Economics student Vitória Quissak didn't miss the chance and asked about adaptability within companies. For her, the lecture was very enriching: "The people from Ágora brought many insights and were very sincere about how to grow within this career," she stated.
For Fernando Bueno, the interaction with the students was one of the highlights of the meeting. “We talked with several students about how to get started and take the first steps. We discussed the various fields of work and the importance of talking about money from an early age,” he stated.
Integrating the Global Money Week program with support from the Finance League, the panel reinforces ESEG College's commitment to training professionals prepared for the challenges of the market and developing skills aligned with the current demands of the financial sector.
