The start of another academic semester at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, was marked by the August Lecture Series. In addition to being a leader in technology and business, ESEG also prides itself on its close relationship with students. This support is a fundamental part of one of the most important processes in a student's life, not only academically but also in their personal development. Therefore, the first day of classes was filled with various activities, meetings, and conversations.
The most anticipated moment of the new students' welcome event was a keynote lecture by Ana Karina Scarlato from Mastercard Brazil. The event also included returning students from all courses.
The lecture “High-Voltage Career: How to Surf the Wave of Disruption in Payments,” given by the professional, who is the Vice President of Products and Innovation, discussed the evolution of the payments market, from the beginning of card use, through the use of... chips, ...until we arrived at modern methods, such as PIX and the use of... tokens. "Talking about the evolution of the industry I work in, drawing a parallel with my career, highlighting the important points, my concerns, and what should evolve," says the guest.
Speaking about the Lecture Series, Ana Scarlato praised the idea: "I thought ESEG's initiative to bring together industry executives directly linked to technology and business to present their case studies was fantastic," she explained.
Expanding on the topic, the speaker made predictions about innovation trends for the coming years, where we will increasingly see the use of AI (artificial intelligence) to circumvent fraud, as well as a unification between different types of payments and the use of Digital Identity, potentially leading to the end of password use, and encompassing unified documents and methods.
Another topic of the presentation, Ana shared important career tips for the students, highlighting the importance of developing technical skills such as using software, methodologies, and project management, along with... Soft Skills Ana explained how leadership, negotiation, and teamwork can make a difference in a person's professional life. She concluded by exclaiming about the invitation and the opportunity to be part of the Lecture Series. "I was very happy to know that people who are starting their careers and investing in their future can count on ESEG in this project," she emphasized.
For our students, the lecture also served as an incentive and created expectations for their professional and academic future. Bruno Tonini, a business administration student, commented on his experience: “It was a very enriching experience, where I was able to acquire a lot of knowledge, since the speaker is a person who has extensive wisdom about the market,” said the student.
Welcome to the freshmen
In addition to the lecture, professors and coordinators met with the freshmen in the evening, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the Faculty and its projects, such as the CDC (Career Development Center) with Simone Bortoletto; the ESEG International sector, with Vanessa Martins; the Garra Azul Athletic Association, with its representatives; and finally, they learned about the Library systems with Andrea Beiro. After the presentations, the new students received welcome gifts and were able to understand a little more about our history, mission, vision, and values.
The semester has officially begun, and with it, the Lecture Series continues with a special program for this month of August. Check out the upcoming lectures. clicking here.
