Students from the Law course at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, participated in a guided tour of Procon São Paulo in June. The activity, led by Professor Alexandre Peres Rodrigues, provided students with practical experience on topics related to Consumer Law that they had studied in class.
During the visit, the students were welcomed at the Procon headquarters building, located on Rua Conselheiro Furtado, where they toured the institution's auditorium. There, they attended a lecture given by a Procon supervisor, who explained how the agency works, its responsibilities, and its main areas of activity in protecting consumer rights.
Following that, the students also visited the customer service area, where they could see firsthand how complaints are registered and the direct interactions between consumers and the public agency. The experience allowed them to understand how the legislation is applied in everyday life and how Procon (the consumer protection agency) acts in inspection, administrative enforcement, and consumer education.
The topics covered during the technical visit had already been addressed in the classroom by students who took the Consumer Law course in the first semester. For the others, the activity served as an introduction to the importance of this content for legal training.
In his testimony, Professor Alexandre Peres Rodrigues highlighted the importance of initiatives like this in undergraduate studies: “The visits are important to combine practice with theory. Procon is an extremely active body in enforcing Consumer Law, being essential to curb abuses committed by companies and suppliers. Getting to know this work up close strengthens students' understanding of the State's role in protecting citizens.”
ESEG College continues to invest in activities that provide academic and professional development for students, with experiences that contribute to a complete, critical education connected to the realities of Law.
