Guilherme Moreno, a Production Engineering student at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, represented the institution at the tenth edition of... International Conference on Applied Informatics – Imagination, Creativity, Design, Development (ICDD).
The prestigious international congress was organized by the Research Center for Information and Technologies of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (ULBS), Romania, which recently had the participation of Professor Dr. Dana Simian teaching courses at ESEG..
Aimed at young researchers from around the world, the conference has established itself as a global showcase for the presentation and discussion of scientific work in the fields of computer science, computational algebra, bioinformatics, and numerical calculus.
The key difference of the ICDD is the requirement that submitted original studies be supported by practical software applications, excluding purely theoretical research.
Before his work was accepted, Guilherme underwent a rigorous evaluation process, being analyzed by two independent experts in the field. The criteria included thematic relevance, clarity, originality, and the validity of the proposed solutions.
For Guilherme, the experience of participating in an international congress focused on technology and engineering was very rewarding and challenging. “My experience, until then, was in congresses focused entirely on the health field, as a result of my initial training as a biomedical scientist. But, as a Production Engineering student, having access to these opportunities enriches my academic and professional trajectory. The contact with people from other countries, even online, talking about common themes and in another language, was fantastic,” he highlighted.
Delivered entirely in English, the event featured 15-minute research presentations and panels with global technology companies, covering cutting-edge topics in today's market such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Cryptography.
The conference also offered scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students who excelled in technical quality, allowing the best eligible papers to compete for the ICDD Best Student Paper Award, as well as special distinctions focused on imagination, creativity, design, and development.
Guilherme Moreno's participation in such a competitive research environment reinforces not only the excellence of teaching but also ESEG's commitment to the internationalization of its students.
By encouraging practical scientific production and the participation of its students in global conferences, the institution reaffirms its focus on aligning cutting-edge academic learning with the technological and corporate demands of the international market.
