Professional Journey: Production Engineering student combines leadership and entrepreneurship in his career.

Having initiative, seeking knowledge, and seeing opportunities: these were the main ingredients in Guilherme Moreno's journey. A 6th-semester Production Engineering student at ESEG College, he decided to transform his career by investing in his own business and found the necessary support at the college to bring his idea to life.

His experience as a coordinator in a diagnostic medicine laboratory contributed to his professional growth, but it was at ESEG that Guilherme discovered a new purpose: entrepreneurship. The inspiration came from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation classes, which sparked the desire to create something of his own.

“The Entrepreneurship and Innovation classes rekindled my desire to start my own business, to be run alongside my work in the healthcare field. In 2023, I opened a catering company for events, LM Eventos Corporativos & Sociais, using all the knowledge I absorbed in the courses. We have already completed one year of CNPJ registration and are growing more each day,” the student comments on his life as an entrepreneur.

The Production Engineering course was essential in developing a broader and more strategic vision of the market, as well as strengthening skills in management and data analysis. "Because it's a college with a more executive-oriented training, the combination of theory and practice that ESEG provides expands our perspective, allowing us to see beyond the obvious," emphasizes Guilherme, who adds: "Of the subjects I've taken so far, the ability to critically analyze and handle large volumes of data has given me an advantage.".

With a degree in Biomedicine and over ten years of experience in the healthcare sector, Guilherme saw his second degree in Production Engineering as an opportunity to diversify his skills and reinvent himself. “Being in an environment that encourages critical thinking, a strategic outlook, and constant learning made all the difference. Today I can apply what I learn both in my business and in my work,” he emphasizes.

The student also highlights the impact of interacting with colleagues and professors: “Even though I am already in a leadership position, I learn every day from other students. The diversity of experiences and perspectives broadens our understanding and enriches our journey.”.

Guilherme argues that making the most of the university experience is essential for any future entrepreneur. “Take advantage of every moment inside and outside the classroom. Get involved in extracurricular activities, projects, and initiatives. Often we think that the projects proposed in the subjects are only to develop that obvious skill/knowledge of the subject, but behind that, there is a much greater objective, which is to develop us as thinking and critical beings, without neglecting a humanized and professional perspective. All opportunities are very enriching,” concludes the student.
