Professional Journey: Business Administration Student Shares Important Tips for Starting a Career

The beginning of your professional journey can be challenging. That's why it's important to prepare well and know how to take advantage of the advice of those who have already been through it.

João Pedro Lucarelli, a final-year Business Administration student at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, tells us a bit about his journey and serves as an inspiration to other young people.

Currently, João works for the American technology company Pipefy. He believes that college was very important in his development, as he was able to use the knowledge acquired in the academic environment to improve his behavior as well.

“So far, my journey at Pipefy has been incredible. I hold the position of Sales Development Representative (SDR), with the main responsibility of qualifying and prospecting potential clients. One of the biggest learning experiences has been improving my ability to conduct calls and meetings in a more professional manner, which has helped me develop my soft skills,” shares the young man.

During his Business Administration course, João had the opportunity to learn important techniques for his position. The theory helped him apply the practice without major difficulties.

“The theoretical knowledge [obtained during my undergraduate studies] about sales, consumer behavior, and market analysis, for example, has been essential for understanding the process of prospecting and qualifying leads, in addition to helping me make more precise decisions on a daily basis. The feeling of seeing how theory translates into practice is extremely rewarding, as I can perceive the real value of this learning and how it helps me generate concrete results,” emphasizes the student, demonstrating how ESEG's education can change the lives of young people and help them forge a path to success in their careers.

João also highlights how the initiatives promoted by the Career Development Center (CDC) at ESEG helped him develop his skills and overcome his fear of entering the job market.

“At the beginning of my academic journey, I had the privilege of receiving support from the CDC, with guidance in interview training and resume preparation. I am eternally grateful for the valuable insights I received, as they made all the difference in my professional development and success,” João highlighted.
