Entering the job market can seem like a big challenge for some people. But Gabrielle Borgatto, a 4th-semester law student at ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, shows that it can all be a matter of taking the first step.
The young woman is currently a Global Compliance intern at CEVA Logistics. However, this was not her first professional experience. Her journey began outside her field, at a telemarketing company, with the goal of entering the job market as soon as possible, gaining experience, and overcoming some personal barriers.
“Initially, in my second semester of college, I decided to enter the job market. Since internships in the field didn't immediately become available, as most required some professional experience, I chose to embark on a journey that would give me a great deal of experience, especially in working under pressure, dealing with the public, and improving my communication skills,” explained Gabrielle.
To prepare for the selection processes and to loosen up a bit more, the student decided to participate in the initiatives developed by the Career Development Center (CDC) at ESEG. For her, this helped her a lot in preparing for the job market.
“I remember simulating an interview with Simone [CDC coordinator]. It was the first job 'interview' I experienced. She gave several tips on how not to get nervous or how to speak during the selection process to impress the recruiter. I went to a lecture that ESEG promoted together with a large technology company, Stefanini, where we received tips from the intern and how she passed the selection process of a large company,‘ the student recalled.
In April of this year, the time came for Gabrielle to begin her internship in her field. The new challenge seemed a little daunting, but it served as motivation for her to establish herself as a Global Compliance intern at CEVA Logistics.
Even though she describes it as “a challenging, daring, and sometimes even frightening experience,” the young woman is excited and ready to overcome challenges. “In my first internship, my main tasks were to act as a representative in in-person or virtual hearings, monitor processes, and manage deadlines for the lawyers who supervised me. It was a somewhat difficult journey, but this experience allowed me to establish myself in the position I now hold,” Gabrielle highlighted.
This new stage of life arrives full of challenges, but these have been made smaller thanks to the preparation that ESEG provided to the young woman. The importance of a high-level education is put to the test in the job market, where theory is justified in practice.
Gabrielle's experience demonstrates the difference that ESEG College makes in the education of its students, ensuring the necessary preparation for a promising future. Her story also serves as an inspiration to other students and shows how important it is to be prepared for entering the job market.
“Without a doubt, ESEG has always shown complete support for students in professional matters. My course coordinator and the CDC coordinator were always very helpful in assisting me to achieve what I aspired to professionally,” emphasizes Gabrielle, who feels proud of the path she has taken, even in a short time. “If you are able to start an internship just for the professional and academic experience you will gain, don't think twice, because it's worth it,” she adds.
Stories like this are common. It shows us that sometimes all it takes is taking the first step.
