Professional Journey: From entrepreneur to intern at a multinational company, student highlights the impact of ESEG on his education.

The trajectory of Pedro Serra, a Business Administration student, perfectly illustrates this mission, highlighting how the institution assists in career development.

Before starting his undergraduate studies in 2024, Pedro was already working in the market as an entrepreneur in the e-commerce sector, managing sales for large companies. marketplaces like Mercado Livre and Amazon. However, it was at ESEG that a new professional passion was awakened.

“I became interested in the field of Human Resources largely due to the influence of Professor Edgard Rodrigues, who demystified the area for students from day one. Previously, I only knew HR as the department that fires employees, but today I understand its complexity and internal divisions,” Pedro points out.

This turning point took on global proportions in 2025, when Pedro participated in the Global Business Experience in China, a multicultural experience program of ESEG international office. Immersion in a foreign corporate ecosystem allowed him to refine his HR practices. This experience was a turning point in his career, as upon returning to Brazil, he secured an internship in Recruitment and Selection at Dow, one of the world's largest chemical companies.

Joining an organization the size of Dow requires preparation. Fluency in English and international experience were key factors in the recruiters' selection, according to Pedro: “I believe I got the job thanks to my trip to China. In my internship, I interact daily with people of different nationalities—my supervisor, for example, is American. The Global Business Experience It gave me the necessary empathy to understand how different cultures propose distinct solutions, generating more innovation and creativity.”

Integrated Projects as a showcase of experiences

Having previously focused his career on his own business, Pedro found in ESEG's Integrated Projects the perfect portfolio to present in interviews. The main highlight was the Microentrepreneurship event, led by Professor Filippe Delarissa.

“This event helped me a lot for two reasons. First, because I had no prior corporate professional experience, the project functioned as a real 'professional environment,' with planned deliverables and goals. Second, because it allowed me to work in team coordination, organizing deadlines between different 'departments' of the event, learning to deal with different perspectives and to be more empathetic,‘ she explains.

Proactivity and advice for the future

In addition to organizational vision, he highlights that communication was the skill that evolved the most during his undergraduate studies, which helped him demonstrate his proactivity to recruiters in alternative ways.

“"From the first semester onwards, the Faculty and professors provide opportunities to develop speaking skills through presentations, seminars, and projects that require us to speak in public and express ourselves clearly," the student points out.
