{"id":13806,"date":"2026-03-05T15:20:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T18:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eseg.edu.br\/noticia\/palestra-destaca-a-importancia-da-analise-e-criacao-de-dados-estatisticos\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T18:04:43","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T21:04:43","slug":"palestra-destaca-a-importancia-da-analise-e-criacao-de-dados-estatisticos","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/eseg.edu.br\/en\/noticia\/palestra-destaca-a-importancia-da-analise-e-criacao-de-dados-estatisticos\/","title":{"rendered":"Lecture highlights the importance of analyzing and creating statistical data."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-6308d0d0-7fff-ef01-1af6-83e508628e52\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, hosted Carlos Eduardo Freire, director of the Center for Data Science for Public Statistics (CCDEP), for a lecture on the importance of producing and interpreting statistical data in making important societal decisions.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">Held in the Main Hall of ESEG, Freire addressed the topic &quot;Challenges in the production and analysis of public statistics,&quot; where it was possible to understand that all information is constructed through the analysis and interpretation of statistical data. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">Com 23 anos de carreira, Carlos \u00e9 diretor do CCDEP, instituto de pesquisa que faz parte do SEADE, \u00f3rg\u00e3o de produ\u00e7\u00e3o regular de estat\u00edsticas e an\u00e1lises demogr\u00e1ficas, econ\u00f4micas e sociais sobre o estado de S\u00e3o Paulo, respons\u00e1vel por&nbsp; projetar dados estat\u00edsticos para informa\u00e7\u00f5es, realizar c\u00e1lculo do PIB da cidade, criar indicadores sociais e demogr\u00e1ficos, entre outras atribui\u00e7\u00f5es. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">\u201c&quot;Today I came to share some of my experience and inform the students about the field, to motivate them to work not only with data, but also in the areas of statistics and social economics,&quot; the speaker said before the event began.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">The guest gave a brief explanation of how statistics work in his field, through primary data collection, done manually for years with interviews and forms, and how in the digital age it faces challenges such as the large volume of data, with high frequency and diversity, obstacles that can be overcome with the help of technologies and Artificial Intelligence, leaving aside manual labor.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">He explained that data is collected through records, which create information called statistical products. To be used in research and development, these products undergo several processes, such as checking the quality of the information, its consistency, accuracy, and interpretability. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">With the data at hand, public agencies, city halls, and similar entities can use this information to plan and make important decisions that impact society, such as creating new subway and train stations based on population density, knowing the average age of a part of the city to create new hospitals, knowing the number of cars on important avenues to build new roads and highways, among others. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">Carlos falou ainda sobre o cen\u00e1rio atual e como a tecnologia pode ajudar na capta\u00e7\u00e3o e cria\u00e7\u00e3o de indicadores de dados. \u201cTemos novas ferramentas computacionais, novos registros de dados e isso traz uma grande possibilidade&nbsp; de produzir indicadores novos, seja para pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas ou empresas\u201d, destaca o diretor. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;background-color: transparent;vertical-align: baseline\">Finally, the speaker opened a question and answer session to address all the audience&#039;s doubts, allowing for fluid interaction with those engaged in the topic. Fillipe Batista, a Computer Engineering student, shared his experience attending the lecture: \u201cToday&#039;s lecture discussed the difficulties of working with statistics and data, and how this helps to control areas such as health and economics.
