Have you ever thought about doing a semester-long internship abroad, but wonder how you would be able to balance it with your degree? ESEG<\/b>, This is a viable reality. Through the program ESEG International<\/a>, Students have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, learn about other cultures, and add value and experience to their academic and professional resumes, while also pursuing their undergraduate studies.<\/p>\n

Julia dos Santos Sales, a 9th-semester student, will soon be able to take advantage of this opportunity. Production Engineering<\/a> She is an industrial maintenance intern at a multinational cosmetics company. The young woman is preparing for a trip to Clichy, a French city located northwest of Paris. Julia will continue her internship in France, scheduled to begin in February 2023.<\/p>\n

The student emphasizes that she learned about the internship through her work and that ESEG assisted her throughout the entire process. The Student Support area, for example, provided guidance on how to behave during presentations and gave her a foundation of skills that she now puts into practice.<\/p>\n

Julia says she is very excited to live this experience. \u201cI will be working with a multicultural team, as they are people from three different continents. So, it will be something very different from what I am used to today. I have always wanted to get to know other countries and understand what the organizational culture is like, and now I will be able to do it,\u201d the student points out. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A golden tip: planning.<\/h5>\n

Julia's advice for anyone considering an exchange program, whether for study or work, is to plan. \u201cPut your dreams on paper and turn them into plans and goals. It's not as easy as it seems and it may take longer than we want, but in the end everything works out when it's meant to,\u201d emphasizes the student, who adds: \u201cThe first time I tried for this international internship, I wasn't accepted. However, I received an invitation for a new area and, even after a disappointment, I had nothing to lose by trying again. If it didn't work out the first time, there are dozens more chances to succeed. Don't give up!\u201d.<\/p>\n

Planning a study abroad program relies on the essential support of ESEG through its professors and coordinators. The program ESEG International<\/a> It encourages international study opportunities, in partnership with renowned academic institutions worldwide, where students find all the necessary support to make their trip a reality.<\/p>\n

According to the Production Engineering course coordinator, Professor Marcelo Dias, a line of research being developed by a professor here at ESEG might interest a professor at a university abroad. This can be an excellent gateway to facilitate exchanges with students. Furthermore, it's a great opportunity for professional growth in the field of Engineering. "Learning about other cultures helps graduates to deal with multicultural teams in the future, both in operational aspects and in project planning," emphasizes Marcelo Dias.<\/p>\n

Julia's parents, Erivelton Sales and Patricia Sales, are her biggest supporters. \u201cThey believed in me from the beginning, even when I didn't believe it was possible. Without them, I might not have even applied. This will be a very important step for my academic and professional development, as I will be immersed in a new field with people of different customs,\u201d Julia concludes.<\/p>\n
