Last Wednesday, November 16th, ESEG \u2013 Faculdade do Grupo Etapa held an open class entitled \u201cProfessions of the Future and Applied Creativity,\u201d which gave freshmen and high school students seeking a degree the opportunity to experience academic life in a practical and dynamic way.<\/p>\n
The evening began with ESEG professor and career and business management consultant, Edgard Rodrigues, who explained how professions have been changing over the years, with some even ceasing to exist. Given this scenario, the educator reinforced the importance of considering a series of factors before choosing a profession. \u201cWe need to balance reason and emotion in the decision, as the possibilities are endless. However, it is important to be attentive to the future needs and possibilities of the market.\u201d According to him, the fields most prone to growth are directly linked to technology, health, the environment, and society. In this sense, Engineering and areas related to Information Technology, Data Science, and Robotics are those showing the most growth. <\/p>\n

ESEG, always attentive to the demands of the job market and seeking to guarantee its students a strong and up-to-date education, incorporates a technological vision into all its courses, combining digital skills with traditional teaching, as well as reinforcing personal and professional skills, competencies, and abilities in its students. Another distinguishing feature of ESEG's programs is the granting of certifications in Data Science and Skills, so that students graduate with technology already integrated into their profession, strengthening their resumes and preparing them for the 4.0 revolution, where everything is expected to be connected, especially humans and machines.<\/p>\n
For Guilherme Gomes, a freshman in Economics, the event provided a lot of networking opportunities. \u201cI was able to meet and exchange ideas with future law students. This practical demonstration of what university life will be like already sheds more light on things for many people. Having this first contact is very important, especially for those who are currently choosing a profession.\u201d.<\/p>\n
More than just knowing the profession, it's necessary to be aware of market trends and prepare for the changes that are happening at an increasingly rapid pace. Traditional fields like Law and Economics need \u2013 and must \u2013 stay current and connected to the virtual world, as do important issues for society and the environment.<\/p>\n

In the second part of the evening, Professor Fernando Jardim, a lecturer at ESEG and consultant in innovation, creativity, and unconventional marketing projects, led a workshop with the attendees focused on understanding the relationship between clients, designers, and end consumers. Divided into groups representing different audiences, participants were presented with fictional (or not so fictional) problems and encouraged to create solutions by developing products or services. Examples ranged from a cat that spends a lot of time alone and needs to eat, to issues involving visual impairment and transportation, and finally, a way for mothers with newborns to sleep better. All of this was discussed and worked on in groups composed of clients, who request the product; designers, who need to be creative and consider all stages \u2013 from creation to usability \u2013; and finally, the end consumer.<\/p>\n

First-year law students Thatyana Gon\u00e7alves and Gabrielle Borgatto Carpejiane had their first university experience at the event, as they will begin their studies in the first semester of 2023. For them, the event was a moment of great inspiration and personal growth. Thayana said she really enjoyed the lecture, "a new topic, everything very well prepared. I really liked how it happened, especially the dynamics; I didn't imagine what it was like and it was a surprise." Gabrielle said that this class was a first step towards her career, as she learned more about skills and how important they are for any profession.<\/p>\n
Family support is always fundamental in choosing a profession. Jo\u00e3o Pedro de Paula Marcelino, a student at Col\u00e9gio Etapa, participated in the open class with his mother, Claudia da Silva Paula, and says that the lecture was very informative: \u201cI was able to clarify several doubts I had about my area of interest (Computer Engineering and Computer Science). Furthermore, the workshop allowed for a lot of interaction and dynamism, putting creativity into practice.\u201d For Claudia, it was a moment to better understand the courses. \u201cI found the event very dynamic and interesting. My son is taking the university entrance exam now and is interested in Computer Engineering or Computer Science courses. We took advantage of the occasion to understand this area a little better, and the lecture clarified a lot,\u201d said Claudia.<\/p>\n
