Every new journey brings challenges and uncertainties, especially when we talk about the professional market. That's why ESEG College, part of the Etapa Group, makes a point of preparing students to enter the job market with confidence.

The journey of Sarah Cristina, an 8th-semester Economics student, demonstrates the importance of choosing a college that values the future of its students.

In 2022, Sarah began her career as an intern at the company. M8 Pharmaceuticals, She worked at a multinational pharmaceutical company and, after 2 years, was hired as a Junior FP&A Analyst (Corporate Financial Planning). Looking back on her beginnings, the young woman feels grateful for her growth and for understanding how much she can contribute to the company, growing more and more, both personally and professionally.

“As my first professional experience, receiving a job offer was very significant. I can say that the biggest lesson I learned as an intern was understanding how to behave in a work environment. This learning is very important: being flexible and knowing how to adapt to the context you are in,” explains the student.

Working for a company that gives you recognition, adds value, and creates opportunities makes everything easier and contributes to your development. "I feel that work, in general, matures you," says Sarah, speaking about her journey at [company name]. M8 Pharmaceuticals, who adds: “Knowing how to deal with people, knowing how to enter and exit a conflict without damaging your relationships with colleagues, knowing how to make requests and present results, all of this helped me develop.

Entering the job market for the first time can be challenging, but ESEG helps its students through this process so they are prepared. It was no different for Sarah, and the young woman talks about the importance the college had in her preparation.

“At ESEG I learned behavioral skills that prepared me, mainly in terms of talking to my manager, sending emails, negotiating, etc. Knowing that there is a support base is very important. Throughout this journey, in addition to the college, the professors were also a very accessible point of support. The chaos of daily life sometimes ends up appearing in the classroom, and the professors always knew when the students needed personal or professional advice. This is something for which I am very grateful to them,” reports the student.

When discussing how ESEG contributed to her daily work at the company, the student explains how to apply theory in practice.

“The important point that an Economics faculty needs to have is to ensure that its students have a more refined critical sense and logical thinking than average. Regardless of the area of expertise, it is expected that an economist will always have some answer/opinion about something or make connections between different subjects. As a student representative for more than 2 years, this is something I have always sought to maintain within the scope of the course in conjunction with the coordinators and professors, so that students are always developing sufficient practical skills associated with theoretical learning,” exemplifies Sarah, when showing how she puts theory into practice.

Today, reflecting on her journey, Sarah is satisfied with her first steps and offers some advice for those who wish to begin their own path: “Don’t rush, first adapt to college, get into the rhythm, and around the 3rd or 4th semester, start looking for something professional. It won’t be the only job you’ll ever have. Take advantage of this time when you can choose and see what best suits your reality. Use this internship period to absorb as much knowledge as possible. You can do this by changing companies and areas several times or by deepening your knowledge in just one.”.

Without a doubt, Sarah's story shows us the importance of choosing the right college to guide your future. Today, working as an analyst, she is grateful to ESEG College and happy with the path she is taking.
